We travelled 2 hours by train to see the monkeys in the natural spa, big mistake on our part. Sure the onsen (spa) is a natural one but the environment is a zoo enclosure. There are approximately 100 monkeys. Although they are very cool to watch the whole space felt too compact for my liking. Entry fee was a nominal... More

We visited Tropical Botanical Garden/Saruyama Onsen/Hot-tubbing monkey after saw an attractive video of hot tubbing monkey. We didn't think there's only tens of monkeys and small pool. The garden consists of tropical trees, some animal such as birds, turtle and koi fish. After walk 30-40 minutes in cold weather from Yunokawaonsen tram stop to Saruyama Onsen and back to Yunokawaonsen... More

To find this Venue is not easy, but when I look at the attraction is not my expectation, I only see some monkey with red nose play at a little pool....and the small hut nearby as botanical garden... Not worthed.

Not worth travelling all the way to watch monkeys bathing in onsen. The monkeys are kept and not wild. There is a small bontanic garden but nothing much in there too. So boring watching the monkeys in an enclosed place. There were no other visitors other than us. Not a popular place to visit.

The monkeys look pretty miserable walking around on concrete and folks throwing random food at 'em, which most likely isn't too good for their digestive system to be eating processed food. All in all, not worth the visit just to be passive in not supporting the monkey enclosure. Too bad also, because the botanical garden is actually really cool and... More
