Had one day in Shimizu Port/Shizuoka during a cruise. Traveling with a family of 4 with teens. The main reason I believe the ships port here is to see Mt. Fuji because its known to be one the best spots to see it in all its glory. Most people will go up the hillside to Toshugo Shrine or nearby Miho... More

Easy to get around with great views across the bay. The port is both commercial & pleasure with a variety of boats

Inside the shopping center (on the ground floor) has a restaurant where you can eat good fresh buffet food. In the restaurant you can admire the harbor area.

What makes this port so famous is Mt. Fuji + beautiful harbour + the ocean + on a clear day = a magnificent picture. Although most tourists just pass by en route to Mt.Fiji but the town still makes a effort to attract tourists and they did a good job. I was one of the passing by tourists, I managed... More

It is unlikely you will find yourself in Shimizu by chance; it is a small port and fish market but a substantial tourist resort for Japanese featuring beaches and an amusement park. But beyond these is one of the most amazing aquariums in the world. Not only is there the usual central large tank of many big fishes, but the... More

We had a wonderful trip to Kashi-no Ichi Market at Shimizu Port. We enjoyed the 'big size' fresh oysters. The owner of the stall was extremely happy to serve us especially seeing how happy we were in enjoying the oysters. We had good sashimi too. There are a lot of fresh seafood like the spider crab, tuna, and shell fish... More

The port is not a big and not a great place to visit but you can visit to relax and have a boat ride to unwind your self. You can find a big port side shopping center with good restaurants of multicuisine makes it more reasons to visit.

What was once a bustling port has declined, but large portside areas have been developed into restaurant and entertainment centres, including a small park and boardwalk. There is also a colourful ferry to go across to Toi, on the Izu Peninsula (nice trip!!).
