Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is the only place that all people will arrive using public transportation. And this is also the place where all tour transportion started. Huge building with the infamous wooden gate facing east entrance. Surrounding the station are hotels and inside the station is a mall. Outside the station is a clock and digital fountain which displays word characters and time. Nice innovation...

Truly wonderful architecture that blends modern style with respect for tradition. From a distance, the contours of Kanazawa Station resemble a Samurai helmet, a testament to Japanese attention to detail.
There is so much to say about it from the drum-like legs of the Tsuzumi-mon gate, to the traditional crafts such as washi paper found in different parts of the station, to the shinkansen platforms where the pillars are decorated with gold leaf, to the simple but lovely water garden outside. As if that isn’t enough there is some of the best shopping and food/restaurants to be found here too!
Kanazawa Station is beautiful, impressive, well planned and very convenient for travellers.

As we arrived at Kanazawa Station from Osaka, we're truly amazed at what greeted us. Standing tall, this amazing structure, an architectural marvel (Tsuzumi-mon Gate) fronts the JR Kanazawa Station. It's also a transportation hub for Shinkansen, local trains, bus interchange.....Do look at the fountain that tells time/artistic gems. Inside the Station can be found some of the best shopping, food/restaurants.

Despite being considered too modern and unattractive at first, it quickly became a symbol of the city, so much so that we were presented by our Japanese Guide, as the most beautiful in Japan. The imposing Tsuzumi door in Japanese douglas pine, was designed to resemble a traditional drum, or a Tori. The beautiful dome that covers the square shelters travelers from the rain or snow, frequent in these parts. In short, a wonderful business card for the city.

It's overwhelming when you see it in person.
It's lit up at night and is very beautiful.
The whole station has a very stylish design that makes you want to take photos.
The facilities inside the station are also well-equipped, and you can find anything you need.

You arrive. You leave.
Or you could leave and then arrive later, but that conundrum would be like solving whether the chicken or the egg came first.
Big, Huge, Modern. Lots of glass and steel.
Not much else to say, except to Trainspotters, and I don't speak their language

Utterly beautiful structure. Spacious and airy. Tidy and clean with practical signage. Light years ahead of railway stations in the UK which are still struggling from the move away from the dirty days coal-fired steam.

The station is quite a structure! As a visitor, one needs time to work out where to go, manage buying a ticket from the vending machine, etc. One can be lucky to enlist the help of one of the station hands. Seems to be quite a few of these fellows on duty. Big station!

It's been 25 years since Kanazawa.
Much has changed. It was a lot of fun to eat and shop as the commercial facility area expanded.
This time it was a three-day trip by car with my sister.
I went to the Hokuriku Shinkansen station (Awara Onsen Station) later.
The accommodation was between Kanazawa Station and Omi Market, so it was good.
I don't know when I'll be here next time.

I am hoping to go to Japan next year, is it easy to book flights, trains and excursions independently, I am on a tight budget so all money saving tips would be welcome and
Places of interest. Many thanks

Yes, last april its my second time go to japan. Still many suprise experience.
Just decide the date and begin to book the accomodation by online. Choose free cancellation. Read review of hotel or hostel, recommend near JR station.
train you can buy JR pass or any pass suitable for itinerary. If you travel around japan JR pass suitable. JR pass like Global pass in europe, but no need reservation like in europe except going to hokkaido you have to reserve your seat for free, cause there is non reserve car.
Place of interest you can read from any blog, but for the first time you go to Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka.

Is there any luggage storage at this Kanazawa Station to store our suitcase (estimated 20kg)? As we are doing a day trip from Tokyo --> Kanazawa --> Shirakawa-go --> Takayama --> Kanazawa --> Kyoto using our Japan Rail Pass. Your opinion on other transportation passes that we will require (especially for the additional bus connection to Shirakawa-go) will be highly appreciated. Thank you.
