Very nice, but some are better in Kanazawa, still good to see.

Very nice, but some are better in Kanazawa, still good to see. A short version of the tea-ceremony is preformed here too. Cheaper then other places.

The house is well preserved. Not expensive to visit, but, as others mention, there is some very pricey pottery on offer. The samurai houses are graded according to the rank of the occupier. This one was for a high-ranking samurai. Nearby are other houses for those less distinguished. But everything here is well presented and cared for so its well... More

The one reason for our visiting Kzanazawa was to see this old Samurai district. I was amazed how well preserved the whole district is. The house fronts indicate the rank and position of the Samurais living inside those houses. There were a few arts and crafts shops selling a lot of pottery, but quite expensive. A rich cultural experience.

The 16th generation of the Terashima family runs this house as a museum. they change scrolls according to the seasons. This is the only house of its kind open to the public. The roof's wooden shingles were weighted down with stones. The tatami rush mats are attached to each other with hemp or silk, if in a special place like... More

This was an old area of the city where the Samurai wre housed, and it has been well preserved. There wre quite a few arts and crafts shops selling their wares, but the prices were extortionate. Still, it was worth looking at the beautiful pottery etc on display. It felt very Japanese, a good cultural experience.

This Circa 1770 house showing how the middle class warrior lived was terrific. Their way of life back in that time was not for me. However, well worth a look.
