The museum is free, save for some of the special exhibitions, and that means you have to watch where you go. Plenty of school-classes, a very nice exhibition of art-student art and a combination of Japanese and western art makes this OK, even kinda fun....More

2nd visit back to this place (yes...its a great place to visit) but was closed. Failed to do my homework. But went around to the '2nd best melon pan ice" cream joint (so they claim...which is rather legit). Delightful ice cream in a special baked...More

This is one of THE best modern art museums I've been to in th world. The temporary exhibitions was amazing and well worth the 1000 yen entrance fee.

This is a great place. Think fun meets contemporary art. Yes, I know, hard to imagine. This is less a museum and more a kind of art hub. The building is recent but not one of those statemental buildings that announces how impressive it is....More

This was surprisingly enjoyable. Part of the attraction was a special exhibit by a Japanese pen and ink artist Ikeda Manabu, but we enjoyed the other exhibits and the building itself. Had good pasta at the cafe there. We got a discount to the exhibit...More

The price is very reasonable and the exhibits are so cool. I never would've tired of the different interesting optical illusions of the modern artwork and it's very picturesque. The outside is free and has very cool pieces as well! Definitely worth a visit if...More

Art works were around the building, so you could find check arts everywhere in this area. Also there is a garden nearby, you can visit two places together. The tourist bus is east to find. You can come back during night time for the night...More

A variety of modern art styles and forms are presented in this stunningly simple and spare building. Good lunch facility, too. Was popular with school children.

The fantastic and clever swimming pool of course, but also the quiet room open to the sky. Interesting museum shop. OK-ish restaurant. Very nice architecture. A good complement to more traditional sites in beautiful Kanazawa.

This was a highly recommended visiting spot by an architect friend and the building is indeed nice with contemporary sculptures through out the surrounding and the building itself. I, however have a bone to pick, no photography is allowed in the museum. I can understand...More

Three of the permanent exhibits will apparently be closed when I'm planning to visit around 18 May. Is there much else to see at that time? I don't want to travel all the way there and find it's mostly closed.

We only went to the museum because we were hoping for a nice, warm, dry seat and a good cup of coffee after walking through the amazing gardens. From that point of view, we should just have continued on to the shopping... More
