Really enjoyed this course. Walk in the hills outside of of the town. Nice trails to follow but could be better signed. I had to retrace my steps several times because I missed obscurely placed signs. But cemeteries, temples, castle ruins and parks are quite...More

A nice walk that allows you to see many temples; well sign posted and a pleasant experience. It is a fair distance, with steps and uneven terrain, so wear shoes with decent grips and comfortable.

It isn't a particularly long hike but it it is fairly steep at points along the way, but the trails are extremely well maintained and well marked. The trees/vegetation are lush and beautiful, especially the tall cypress trees. We didn't see any bears, but, based...More

A walk through Takayamas temple town, based towards the back to the city. The walk was 3.5km long however we didn't find it as easy as previous walks we'd undertaken, the course wasn't always clear and we found ourselves going back on ourselves a lot....More

I went there quite often during my long stay in Takayama. It's a place where you let your thoughts through your mind and think about spirituality. Highly recommend for cleaning your mind.

As it was on all the maps, we thought we.should do it. None of the temples are remarkable and some also look currently unused. The arrows were a little confusing but other than that, it was a nice way to walk around and see the...More

I have to say, I was kind of disappointed with this attraction because it had significantly less to offer than what other reviewers made it seem. I suppose if someone has never been to Japan before and/or has never seen any shrines or temples before,...More

We did several of the hikes around the city. All were very interesting and not too strenuous. Highly recommend the city has a nice break from the larger cities in Japan.

You can join the trail at any point at the rear of the old town. To walk the entire trail to up the castle ruins is around 4-5 kms of country terrain making up of small roads, foot path and pavements. Since it is a circuit... More
