Nohi Bus company excellent!
Mar. 2021
I have used the Nohi Bus company on a few occasions in Takayama, and always have found staff professional and excellent. I did a trip with them to the Gatton Go Railway in 2019 which involved bus and taxi travel and entry to the railway. I worried that the different components of the trip might not work, but Nohi had everything organised and it all went like clockwork! Will always use Nohi when I'm visiting Takayama. They have some good bus tours!

Day trip

We enjoyed this. The English speaking guide was very difficult to understand but was kind, it was comfortable and punctual. It was a good way to see lots of sites.

Shirakawago and Ainokura Full Day Bus Tour
Feb. 2020 • Couples
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Kana was our guide and provided useful information along the way, was very clear in her directions and advice We loved Ainokura Village, less crowded than Shirakawago, felt more authentic, we visited just after the snow, simply stunning. Would have liked a little longer here. Next was Shirakawago, a light lunch, already waiting for us, then the viewpoint over the village. We are dropped at one point at the village and the bus collects us from a second point which allows optimum time. You also have the option of staying later and returning on an express bus at no additional charge. Also included is entry into the open air museum, which is located next to where you catch the bus, we really enjoyed the tranquility of the open air museum, you can visit the traditional homes without an additional cost. Can highly recommend this tour

The bus are great, the company need to improuve
Oct. 2019
The prces are super high, and they growing higer each year. The buses are great, as transportation, great drivers, cleaness and quality of the bus. They must improve the customer service especially about manners and in dealing also with foreigners and make the buses more available insthead of raising the prices, it is stealing, its a nonsense.

Perfect in timing and book in advance
Dec. 2019
This is one of the bus company that serving Takayama, Shirakawa and Toyama. As Japanese have high precision in timing, those buses always on time. Book in advance as they sold out very quick especially in holiday season. Ticket can be bought 30 days before the departure date. They have office at Kanazawa Station at East exit. Buses departing Takayama dan Shirakawago usually depart from gate 2 at east gate Kanazawa Station.

Good
Dec. 2019 • Couples
The buses we took were very nice and comfortable. The only bad think is that once we wanted to return to Takayama it was a little confusing. I recommend to reserve the bus for the return.

Excellent tour
Nov. 2019
2 adults and we took the Ainokura and Shirakawago day tour.

The bus picked us up exactly o time and the Hida Hotel Plaza. We had allocated seats at the back of the coach along with other English speaking passengers. They had Japanese speaking at the front with a guide and English at the back with an English speaking guide.

Our guide was Kana and she was excellent. She gave lots of information and was very helpful.

Our first stop was Ainokura and there was just the right amount of time as it is quite small.

Next was Shirakawago. The first stop was at the viewpoint for lunch which was traditional Japanese food. Next was the main village.

They provide free entrance to the Heritage museum which is well worth a visit, in fact we preferred it to the village itself.

The bus left exactly on time and the tour included hot tea and a snack on the way back.

We both highly recommend this tour and tour company, and if you get Kana as a guide she is excellent.

Fabulous Tour Guide
Nov. 2019 • Couples
The ryokan we stayed at recommended the Nohi Bust tour to Shirakawago and Suganuma, both UNESCO World Heritage sights. The ryokan made reservations for us. Obtaining tickets at this time of year was simple as we showed up at the Takayama Bus Station about 25 minutes before the tour departure at 1030am and the bus company had our name.

The bus station made an announcement at 1025am that the tour bus was ready to board. We were met by the bus driver and the 2 tour guides, an English speaking and Japanese speaking. The bus left on tine.

Our English speaking tour guide was Chinami Y. Words cannot explain how thorough and great of a job Chinami did as our tour guide. Chinami began the tour with a summary of what the group was about to embark on, what we were going to see, what type of lunch we would have, what sights were coming up as we traveled on the bus to the first location and demonstrated the instruments the locals played at Suganuma.

When we arrived at each location Chinami walked with us pointing out important facts of the village, explained the different tools used in the Kanda gunpowder house in Shirakawago and offered and took many photos for us.

The bus driver was good as the ride to and from was smooth.

In summary, if you are looking to tour Shirakawago and Gokayama, the Nohi Bus tour is well worth it at 6900 yen/person, which includes lunch. If you get Chinami as a guide, you will be taken care of.
