Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The views were amazing and our tour guide suggested which places to visit (given that we have limited time to explore the place). The tour guide also properly explained the history of the place.

We came to Takayama with the intention of visiting Shiragawa-Go. The weather had been variable so we waited until it settled and then couldn’t get a reservation on the scheduled buses. We had seen this tour but were concerned we wouldn’t get a lot of value as it said the commentary was only in Japanese. However its bonus was a second village which was impossible on the regular bus. We had no choice and we booked it. What a great decision. The first village was stunning AND there was English commentary. I suspect that they can’t provide English commentary every day so they won’t promise what they can’t deliver.

The explanations were fabulous, the time in the villages wasn’t rushed. It was super easy and we were delighted with our decision.

This was a good tour. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Shirakawa-Go village. It was great to experience this life outside of the big cities such ask Tokyo, Osaka or Kyoto. For this tour, you need to be at the bus station at least ten minutes before departure. The instructions says meet at 8:30, but that’s when the bus leaves. You need to be there before then to get your tickets if you booked online. They will at the appointed time on the dot.

The bus experience was really informative with the main tour guide directing attention when needed, though you are left to explore in the two locations.

This tour took all the work out of getting from a-b-c and we saw all the main sights we wanted. The area is immensely beautiful. I wished we could have had a longer stop in Anoikura. Tour guide was helpful.

Full day, very well orchestrated by the bus tour company. A mix of locals and westerners aboard so our bus host was kept busy translating all the info she provided about the places we were to visit. Gokoyama felt a bit more like a photo opportunity than an interesting visit - and I don’t want to diminish that photo opportunity, it’s just that there is not much else to do there. Shirikawa-go was a lot more expansive and interesting. However, no regrets overall - the tour was run very smoothly and the trip was well worth taking.

This is a busy little bus station with a small souvenir shop, the staff at the bus counter are extremely helpful and very polite, I was sympathetic to them as there were a lot of Asian foreigners who thought that they could turn up to get a bus ticket without reservations, there were a few heated discussions from the customers but all the while the bus staff were very cool and calm. There are toilets close-by as well as coin lockers available. From this station you can go to Shinhotaka Ropeway and Shirakawa Go, the bus ride was very comfortable and relaxing, I thoroughly recommend choosing this bus company.

I have used the Nohi Bus company on a few occasions in Takayama, and always have found staff professional and excellent. I did a trip with them to the Gatton Go Railway in 2019 which involved bus and taxi travel and entry to the railway. I worried that the different components of the trip might not work, but Nohi had everything organised and it all went like clockwork! Will always use Nohi when I'm visiting Takayama. They have some good bus tours!
