Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This venue is set in amongst wonderful green gardens and is quite a unique spot in Zimbabwe. They do a high-Tea in the garden which is special for any occasion. A wedding here is just beautiful with tasty catering and beautiful surroundings.

If you are familiar with Lee Oskar's famous song - "A Haunted House" then you will definitely get that vibe here. Nesbitt Castle was awesome. It's a boutique hotel that was a former prominent residence in the early 1900s. Not really a castle castle but you will get that feeling with the dark corridors and long hallways.

There are theme rooms throughout the castle such as mask room featuring African masks, billiards room, board room, and probably he most spooky of all a taxidermy room with a full croc and a huge elephant head (felt sorry for the animals though). The staff was friendly. I was the only guest in the hotel the first night but a few others showed up. I had the diamond room and later transferred to the princess room. The diamond was just way too big and creepy. And it had this old school toilet with a chain hanging from the ceiling to flush it and lots of old time portraits. It really creeped me out so I just switched to a smaller room.

All and all I did enjoy it and would recommend it!!

The history of Nesbitt Castle is the history of two unusual men with extraordinary vision; born in different centuries these men both fell in love with the idea of a gothic folly in the heart of Matabeleland. And what could be more incongruous than an English fortified castle in Africa? It was the shared spirit of eccentricity and obduracy that spurred these men on to face the challenges that the original construction and subsequent renovation demanded.

Nesbitt Castle is a little bit of quirky and a whole lot of nice! Fabulous gardens, great building and very friendly staff. This is a hotel but day visitors are welcome to enjoy the garden/restaurant teas and meals. It also makes an original setting for celebrations such as weddings

The food does not disappoint. It is not fine dining but the food is well prepared. The garden setting is best as the inside can be a bit suffocating.

Would recommend this as a place to stay but spend the extra and get a better room of you can. We stayed in the tower first and it was very cold and a bit dark as it was winter but then the royal suite was only a few pounds more and was lovely, Warmer and brighter. The staff were very helpful and food was good. Would definitely recommend.

Had a great afternoon here. Did not stay but had a proper old fashioned colonial style booze up and sundowner with a good and mixed crowd of hedonists! Unobtrusive, but attentive and caring staff... many thanks.
