One of the mountains around Phan Tiet. Not the highest and the most beautiful. Known for the big lying Budda statue on it only. If you're not religious and seen few Budda statues you won't be impressed, believe me. The entrance fee is 50k vnd but it works only if you climb a mountain by yourself which can take too much time and efforts. Usually tourists buy a cable car ticket for 250k vnd (entrance fee is included). Children enter for free. Cable car trip allows you to observe surroundings but they are not really beautiful in the afternoon. Maybe on the sunrise or sun Dawn it can be better but we didn't check. On the top cable car station you can have a meal, take a picture on a spiral stairway, ending in a void and oserve surroundings with a binocular for free. After short walk you can visit a temple, buy icecream (which was melt and frozen again few times), climb up few big steps and see some minor statues.
Before the main statue appears you could meet few monkeys. That's all.

It was worth visiting. It is peacefull place almost surreal like illusion somehow..
Cablecar was nice with good view. Many steps after cablecar also. Possible to eat upstairs and all vegetarian!

We were feeling adventurous and decided to go 'for a bit of a hike'. Ta Cu mountain is not for the faint hearted and shouldn't be taken lightly. Now if you don't fancy the challenge you can always get the cable car there and back - but there are still a lot of stairs at the top to get to the sleeping buddha.
My partner and I are quite keen hikers and felt that this would be an fun task while staying near Phan Thiet. However, unlike other hikes in Vietnam and those we've done in Europe the path is not well kept and as such can be a bit tricky at times (even having to get on hands and knees to get under a thorn tree). But the beauty at the top is honestly incredible and the feeling of accomplishment is great.
We chose to hike up and get the cable car down, we're adventurous not crazy!
Overall a great day, great hike through the thick jungle and beautiful views at the top.

The tour shops are way to expensive in Muine, so I suggest that you go to the lying Buddha by yourself
- Take local bus to CO.OP MART in Phan Thiet
- On the side of the mall, take bus 4 to Ta Cu mountain (make sure that you are traveling in the right direction) about 1hr drive.

My name if Russ. I am an expat and I live right below the Ta Cu Mountain Buddhist Pagoda. As most people have already stated here, the climb is quite stiff, so leave any disabled family, small children, or pets at home. There is a cable car which can bring you most of the way to the top, however, there is still to much walking for anyone who is impaired in any way. My advice would be to go in the early morning (8am) to take advantage of the cool air, eat lunch on the top of the mountain, and then descend. There are of course many tourist goodies to buy and you can taste some of the local delicacies that Vietnam has to offer. Don't be afraid to eat at the roadside stands...I do everyday and I am just fine (a bowl of noodles is just 25,000 vnd=$1.00 USD). The climb to the top is a bit dangerous, because the maintenance has not been kept up, so watch where you walk and GO SLOW!! Hand rails and barriers have rotted and rusted out so watch out!! For tourists new to Vietnam use 30 SPF sunscreen, wear a good hat, and use sneakers/walking shoes NOT SANDALS for this trip. One last thing, its difficult in remote areas to change money and/or to find toilet paper when you need it, so do that ahead of time. Yesterday I visited Ta Cu mountain. I took the local bus from the bus stop on the side of Coop Supermarket in Phan Thiet and paid 16000 Dong to get to the entrance of the mountain one hour later. The bus is very slow as it stops many times but it is also entertaining as you get to see a lot of local folklore.
At the entrance of the park you can buy your tickets, 160000 Dong in total is the entrance fee. It includes a ride per golf cart to the cable cart, the cable cart up and down, and then the entrance to the temple area and the actual buddha. The cable cart facility is of Austrian design, the cable carts of Swiss manufacture, you could actually picture yourself in the Alps. The ride up is about 10 minutes and gives you beautiful views. Once you exit the cable cart, you have to walk up 50 steps to the temple area, From there it is another 200 steps up and there you will find a complete white buddha statue which stretches out, I guess it is about 60 meters long, too long to photograph in one piece. Around the cable cart exit and entrance you can find relatively clean toilets, souvenir shops and facilities to eat if you wanted to. I do recommend this trip, I left at around 10.30 AM and returned by 15.30 hrs.

I have no idea if any tour agencys in Mui Ne offers tours here, but after reading other reviews, it seems like they do.
It's easy to get there on your own and I can't really see why you would want to take a tour.
I put a description on how to get here in the end.
The mountain is very well worth a visit and the main attraction is the Buddha statue on the end of the cable car line.
Just in front of the entrance is where you buy the tickets. From my point of view, they're trying to scam you here, saying the total price would be 160 000 per adult.
This is true, if you want the tickets for everything.
In my point of view, the tram car is a joke, unless you're really old or disabled.
The tram car is from the entrance to the cable car, which took us about 5 minutes to walk. Just do yourself a favour and save that 20 000 for a snack or a souvenir instead.
At the time we visited (about 1 pm, Friday), there was about 5 other people on the whole mountain (not included the workers and vendors). The guy at the cable car was even sleeping when we arrived so we had to wake him up to start the cable cars.
Nice views, maybe not the best in Vietnam, but at least it's nice to look out over the land and see landscape instead of skyscrapes.
There is a lot of construction work at the mountain at the moment and it looked like they are building restaurants, cafés and souvenoir shops as well as some more tempels and statues.
How do I get there?
From Mui Ne: Go to the main road (the road that goes through the town) and wait for a local bus driving towards you if you have the ocean to the right of you. The bus cost 16 000.
The bus takes you to Phan Thiet and there's a few places you can jump off to catch the next bus.
Lotte Mart is one place. CO OP Mart is another.
Now, stand at the bus station and look at the map that shows the buses passing there. If you have the bus number 4 on the map, you're at the right place.
Wait for a while and flag down the bus when it drives by. Tell the driver you want to go to Ta Cu. The journey should take 45 minutes or so and I think the price for the bus was 13 000.
You will notice that you're close when the driver makes a left and more or less drives streight forward for about 3-4 minutes on an empty road.
If you don't look like a local, the bus will certenly stop there anyway and let everyone that look like a tourist that this is the Ta Cu station.
To go back, do the reverse thing. If you arrive too late back in Phan Thiet (or want to explore the town), ask for directions to KFC from Lotte Mart and a later local bus back to Mui Ne will pass there.

Our starting point for the tour was Mũi Né and it took approximately 3 hours to get there. The drive itself was a great experience. It is worth the time to go there. Unfortunately our drivers english was very poor so not much information could gathered...
after entering the park we took a ride with the cable car (austrian made and in perfect condition). This is absolutely a great experience because of the perfect view during the ride. Luckily that day not too much tourists so we had an enjoyable day there. The walk to the temples and afterwards to the Buddha is worth every step you have to climb up. From our point of view a must do.

If you are in the area and have a day to spare is nice to get here, however consider that is a long ride and a bit unsafe if you go by motorbike.
The temple has some areas which are under construction, which I believe it will be all done by the next few months or within a year, so it will be a perfect spot for "tourists".
To go up here you need to get cable car ticket and all it cost about 160k dongs as of today per person. The view is impressive going up.
You will need to make some walk up the steeps to see all the Buddhas, make sure you have shoes and you don't mind to do steps. The lying Buddha is phenomenal. The are shops at the end of the tour just before getting on the cable car back and once you reach the end that are a bit pushy and not appropriate for me to be just in a temple. This it would be a great place to visit peacefully but I'm afraid it will become just a tourist attraction, for tourist that doesn't know anything about Buddhism leaving out as well the respect of the holy place. Please wear require attire, not shorts or anything you would wear at the beach! (This is because I have seen a tour of Russian today and most dressed the same as you would at the beach)

My husband and i visited Ta Ku Mountain as a half day trip whilst on honeymoon.
We booked a half day tour which included a dragon fruit farm and a local market. We had a private transfer with a tour guide which was very comfortable and it was great to learn about the vietnamese culture.
We arrived at Ta Ku Mountain and the cable car was pretty awesome. It is run by solar power and provides a great opportunity for looking at the scenery - if youre lucky like we were you may get to see some monkeys in the trees!
This trip is really not suitable for those with physical disabilities or those who struggle to walk up stairs. The cable car only takes you a portion of the way and you need to be able to climb a fair few stairs to be able to see the temple/views/laying buddha. Note, the temple is still being built and isnt due to be finished for a few years yet.
If you are physically able, then the views that await you are beautiful. It is very peaceful and picturesque. There is a stop halfway to buy drinks and souvenirs (very reasonably priced) and lots of places to get some great photos.
There were patches of rubbish (mainly plastic - totally makes me rethink using any form of plastic now it was that bad!) But the monks and local people had attempted to minimise this.
Once you have seen the views though, there isnt much else there. The bonus is that it didnt feel too touristy, it was quiet and only one small shop so no pushy people getting you to buy stuff.
Go for the view, but be prepared that is all it is.

Hi. My wife is on crutches for short walks, but needs wheelchair for long distances. Can I take her folded wheelchair onto cable cars at Ta Cu Mtn? Thanks.

Cite magnifique encore préservé du kitsch habituel, pourvu que ça dure. Très agréable montée en télécabine, il n’en faudrait pas plus, juste un peu de soins sur les chemins et autour. Espérons que les dieux auront la force de dissuader l’homme dans sa course à l’exce
