An amazing cultural experience spending the afternoon taking photos of the Vietnamese countryside and its people. On the sunset tour you take a boat ride to Thanh Ha village where you meet the locals and get to practice your photography as the locals go about their everyday life. This tour is not about learning how to use your camera but... More

I found out about Hoi An Photo Tours & Walks on Facebook and contacted Etienne before we got to Vietnam. He was very quick in responding. Etienne send me another confirmation just the day before our tour date, to let us know that we will be picked up from the hotel at 5am, he was very punctual. The Sunrise Tour... More

Linda, thanks for writing an honest review. As you know very well, we finished the tour 30 minutes too early as we got caught up in the rain in the village and could not continue to take photos in this situation. People who usually have more troubles understanding about their settings come and find me to ask me questions, that... More

Of all stupid things I have ever done – this must be the worst. My alarm clock rings at 4.30. At 4.45 I am ready in the hotel lobby for a tour. Hoi An Photo Tours start this early to capture the morning light. 12 other people on the tour. Photogeeks all of them – more or less. In this... More

The 3 day Hoi An workshop brought a good balance of technical and artistic guidance with emphasis on ethics of travel and street photography, in a superb country with rich culture and friendly people. "It's not about pointing and shooting what we think is interesting, it's about establishing a connection with the subject or location, compose, ... and work the... More

Over the last two days I participated in the Sunset and Sunrise photo tours. Etienne is a friendly and talented photographer who will assist you with settings and explanations if you need the help. Otherwise, for experienced photographers he is a great asset to take you to off the beaten path locations and mingle with the locals for great portrait... More

I took the sunrise tour which took in the fishing port, fish steamers, fish sauce factory and local home - all providing brilliant photo opportunities. Collected from my hotel I joined a small group in the minibus and we headed across the bridge for a briefing before being let loose on the fisherman and women of Hoi An. The colour,... More

Two of us booked the sunrise photo tour on a Sunday afternoon and on Monday morning we got up at 5am and they never showed up. Our hostel called them later and they just said that they forgot.

Hello Conor, I am very sorry to hear that you were not picked up by the tour you booked in but obviously, you didn't book my tour. I was away in Kuala Lumpur until Monday afternoon, as you can see on the home page of the website and on the social media. Also the hotel could not have called me... More

'Sunrise with the fishermen' was my favourite photography tour in Vietnam. Very interesting subjects and our guide Etienne has worked hard to build a network of contacts that gave us incredible access to some the behind-the-scenes families and businesses near the fishing port. A must-do if you're interested in photography and in the Hoi An area. 5 stars!

A very early start saw 9 enthusiastic photographers led by Etienne, our travel photo tour guide make our way to a local fishing village near Hoi An. Etienne taught us how to engage with people to best request their photograph. What is better is this way you get to know a little about the person which just adds to the... More
