Amir Temur Mausoleum is the place that you must visit when you are in Samarkanda. That is hard to describe the inside - you just must see it.

This amazing religious building mausoleum and Madrassah built by Timurlane for his favourite grand son is just a beautiful piece of art as well as a very important historical landmark

Once again I was glad I had a guide to tell me fine details of the architecture that I would've missed - and to answer my questions...paper mache?! Incredible! I went back at night for pictures of the exterior so brilliantly lit up.
