This is a very interesting lighthouse built next to a very old Franciscan convent and the highlight of the lighthouse is to climb to the top and have an aerial view of the old city. Hard work to climb and not for claustrophobic but worthy

118 narrow steps up to the top, from there a worthwhile view across the Rio de la Plata and the roof tops of the old town.

Costs $1 and you walk up 120 circular small steps. There is 2 landings so if you don't want to make it all the way. Great view from both landings

The Colonia lighthouse is a nice place to visit. It provides a beautiful view of the whole city and, if the weather is clear, you can see all the Buenos Aires skyline, in Argentina, across the river Plata. The staircase is narrow so avoid it if you do not like tight places. But other than that, it is a must... More

Climbing up the Faro (lighthouse) de Colonia can be time consuming due to the long queue but it provides the best views of this fabulous little town. Colonia del Sacramento is a little gem and you must not miss visiting.

There's not a huge amount to do in Colonia once you've shopped and eaten something, so why not pay some pennies to climb up for the view from the top of the lighthouse. We thought this was a good giggle - the climb up is fine, take your time, and then right at the top you have to climb the... More

There is not a great deal to do in Colonia, so climbing up the lighthouse is something to do for 18 Argentine pesos. The climb is narrow and steep and there is not a lot of space up there so font go up if you are claustrophobic or a little unfit. The view from above is peaceful.

I enjoyed going up and did not find it as hard as I expected, although the hot day was awful. The view on the the compensates and air is fresh there. There is a rest point on the middle of the way up, so you can take a bit of air back before finishing your way up. And it is... More

This is the perfect point for a scenic view of this beautiful colonial town. Teh visit is difficult to organise as there is only a narrow staircase up and down to the top so you have to wait or retreat when other visitors are going in the opposite direction. Nevertheless it is only a small climb and the views, covering... More

The ruins are of an ancient convent that burned in the 1600's and the old Lighthouse dates back to 1704. Both are popular picture spots
