Carmelo is the hidden gem from Uruguay and this beach says it all, slow paced, river front, many trees in the sand and birds flying around, i cycled there and meditated under a tree, the water is clean and being a river that feels like...More

Very nice river beach, with many trees, big parking lot and some places to buy food and drink. In winter is just a place to visit, but I believe that it’s quite crowded in Summer.

Great stop on a very hot day. We swam in the river which was lovely and warm (if a bit brown with river sediment). A few beach bars around. Great if you don't expect a typical beach resort but want a Uruguayan experience.

Very nice and quite beach close to the port and downtown. There is a nice restaurant at the beach DAgostina with reasonable prices and very good food. There was a noisy event during the weekend but on MOnday...it was excellent.

Wonderful beach away from the crowds. Lively, with lots of trees an places in both the shade and the sun. Beachside restaurants, camping spaces. Great place to read a book, relax, and have a picnic.
