Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

This is a very old home in Sharjah old city. It is a nice experience as you would be able to see how people used to live in this part of the world.

It is something you can do combined with the other musuems in the area. It is one of the few preserved emirati house you would get to see well preserved for tourists eyes.

The Bait Al Naboodah, affiliated with Sharjah Museums Authority umbrella is a certain scene stealer.
An original coastal house in the heart of Sharjah (near Al Marjiha area), catering to a traditional Emirati ambience in a antique dwelling that has been refurbished & restored to not only promote an authentic setting but also enable the visitor engulf the true physical essence of this Arab style living.
We were invited to a local breakfast that encompassed a quick powerpoint presentation, various simple classical dishes of this region, a demonstration of a popular milk dessert & a detailed brewing process of the exotic coffee beans or "qahwa" as it is famously named.
Breakfast was delicious, delectable- the date pudding, a sure winner. List of the menu served is worth a watch in the pictures below.
With a theatre, art center, a rain house, a tea house, a calligraphy centre & more, all within its vicinity, Bait Al Naboodah is a conscious effort to welcome, widen & import wisdom to one's worldly view on the United Arab Emirates.
A must see for the local, expat & foreign visitor to this country.

The Museum is right in the Heart of Sharjah and shows us the life in olden times. You get to know about thatched houses, kitchen and other utensils, household items of old times etc. Al Hisn Museum and other historical and cultural places are nearby! Buzzing streets of Rolla with lots of business and commercial establishments are nearby. There is a corniche to walk around and Museum of Islamic Civilization is also close. You get to see Sharjah's port and Dhow anchorage near this place. A wonderful place to see, understand and experience the Sharjah of yesteryears and nearby places great to do shopping too!

We did a long and warm walk from the Blue Souk to this Museum, only to find it closed for
renovations. So call ahead before you go to be sure it is operating. Also interesting
was that there was no signage indicating this was a museum, until you get close to the
entrance. We walked around the entire building befor finding the entrance door, with
a small handwritten closed sign on it. Disappointing.

Bait Al Naboodah museum is among those located in the heart of Sharjah. The museum was actually the home of the famous pearl merchant, Al Naboodah, who built a fortune in the pearl trade in India and France. The home is one of the better examples of traditional Emirati architecture, with influences from the above-mentioned places too.

The museum has a gallery on the life of the merchant, which was okish and another couple of galleries explaining the features. The ones that were worth seeing was the kitchen, bedroom and the summer room on the first floor as well as the courtyard. There was a temporary exhibition gallery on the ground floor, which wasn't anything great either.

All in all, it was a mixed bag. I spent around 30 minutes here, which is sufficient to see the place. Entrance is AED 5.
