A good landscape

You can see a great landscape over the city and you can relax yourself with a turkish coffee or a cay in the near local.

It was impossible to park so we saw the clock tower while driving by. This area is congested and confusing for a visitor if you are driving a rental car, maybe you should take a taxi.

This old tower rises above a grassy, park-like area with evergreen trees and flowers. It also has a cafe below it, on the hillside where a waterfall cascades down to the pedestrians in Izmit, Kocaeli, Turkey. Enjoy a cup of tea, watch the seagulls play in the waterfall, and practice speaking Turkish! I wrote it into my eBook "Walk with... More

When you stay in Izmit you definitely see this tower. It is in a central place and there is a nice artificial waterfall nearby. You can also have a drink nearby. It is worth a short visit as there arent special things here just the tower.

We just came from eating, while on a business trip, and we decided to try and see a bit of the sights while here. I read a little about the tower and it was great to come and see it. Definitely worth a visit if in the area and why not site at the cafe next door.

Impressive tower and nice grounds around it with a nice fountain area below. Did not eat in the cafe next to it so cannot comment. Take a walk in to the town after and you will find a fresh fish market on a Sunday and plenty of roadside shoe polishers.

The Konak Clock Tower, symbol of Izmir, was built in 1901 on the Ottoman Ruler's 25th Accession to the throne. It was designed by a French architect and donated by German ruler.
