You can see the city with its many mosques as well as the surrounding area from this high point. The walk up is generally level.

The castle (1150) itself is not in the best condition, but the view from up here is pretty cool and its FREE. There is a restaurant near the castel, which is open till late night. Parking is available.

You can climb to this castle by a pedestrian walkway but it is quite a little bit high slope. İt is about 300 meters long, but when you reach at the top, the scenery of the Kars is beatifull.

It is a unique temple. Also as the castle and the baths beside it is built from a basalt. Therefore it is dark. A truly beautiful monument with an interesting history!

A perfectly located ancient castle ruin with a full view of the old and the new city of Kars. You have to climb a bit if you have decided to visit the castle on foot. Would be more attractive is restored as origin.

Worth walking - or driving up - for the view. There is a cafe, but we didn't visit it. The walls are huge, but the castle and fort had a neglected feel to it. The authorities could possibly house an Ottoman, Russian, Turkish, Armenian museum...More
