You need to pay to go inside (it is a small fee however). Not worth it to go inside considering what you see on the outside is what you see on the inside. There are better ruins to see.

The old city of Smyrna was out first visit in the area. It is well laid out. We combined the visit with a trip to the Bazaar which is adjacent. The site pales in comparison to Ephesus and Pergamon but still worth the visit. In...More

This's where it all begin for civizilation in Izmir. Quite a historical area. However, once you enter, it's not as exciting as many other historical sites of Turkey. Unless you have some special interest in archeology, it may be skipped. But if you like this...More

Given the fact that it is one of the 7 churches and it is only 10TL entrance fee, I would say it is worth seeing. However, do not expect it to be like Ephesus (Efes). I am assuming that a lot of it is still...More

It is a small excavation site. The Book of Revelation talks about the church in Smyrna, which would be Izmir, so it would make sense to come here if you're interested in Biblical Archeology, but there's not a lot to see. Ephesus is worth the...More

Maybe the most important sighseeing of Izmir and it is totally degraded. There is not an easy way to find it although it is in the city center. The place is as dirty as it can be with lots of dogs inside the monument eating...More

Interesting place if you got 20 minutes to spend here. Really far away from Ephesus and Pergamos two opposite site places. Just if you got time when around here in the Izmir, you can just dedicate some time to this place.

10TL entry fee. Although the ruins are not particularly spectacular, it does convey an antiquarian sense well enough. Also being Homer's residence is a plus.

If you're in Izmir and you love ancient history, these are worth a 20 minute look. However, you really want to head to Pergamum and Ephesus for a much better picture of ancient life.

Hello, This is so easy, when do you come to Izmir port by Cruise ship, than take a taxi and give agora (historical place) adress. Approximately from port to Agora 15 minutes. You'll pay apprx. 3 or 5 $ for taxi.

Yes you are right. Because one for Agor is big shopping mall in other side in the Izmir city (in Balçova). Real historical place of Agora is in city center. In this respect many people live the same problem. Best Regards,
