Nothing special. A curtain of water. What makes it unusual is the desert landscape around. If you drive by, stop. Otherwise don't make it a special trip.

Although many visitors go there to see the waterfall, in fact the fall, tortum lake and the surrounds have unique geological features to be seen together. The area is one of the candidate geoparks in Turkey. Visiting surrounding area as well as the seven lakes are must see locations. The toilets in the restaurant by tortum waterfall are should never... Tortum is one the biggest waterfall in Turkey. If you are around Erzurum it is really worth to travel here. Me and my other crazy friends even swam in small lake around :D . No fee to enter.

But once you've been to Niagara falls, this looks like a joke. If you want to see a good waterfall in Turkey, go to the ones down south.

This waterfall is definitely worth visiting if you are driving past to Erzurum. You don't have to walk far, it is fed by a sedate river above, caused by a fault. It is a nice wide waterfall. The environment is not very well maintained, rubbish around on the ground. It is not so tall. There is a tea house nearby... More

This is really a very nice waterfall. I visited in October and then it was very quiet. We could get a cup of tea in the restaurant next to it (ofcourse!) but there was not much more to offer as there were hardly any tourists anymore. However, the waterfall is very nice. You can walk around to see it from... More

One of the largest (widest) waterfalls in Turkey, this breathtakingly beautiful scene is complimented with friendly hosts from the local community that welcome visitors and share their love for Nature, Good Food, and Good Friends. There are delicious home-made meals at the start/end of a circular trail that takes you around the waterfall, with ample opportunity for stunning pictures and... More
