Although you see pigeon hole carved into rocks throughout the rocks of the area, this particular valley contains a greatest number in a very concentrated area. They are beautiful In their niche structure and so numerous in number that they are like densely packed condos in a city. These pigeon holes have been constructed and are all owned by the... More

We walked the complete Valley of the Pigeons from Groeme right to the end and you need a full day. We walked the Uzundere Valley through the tunnels which had been carved through the rock but become smaller as we walked the valley to the end which was a waterfall and then backtracked to the trail; that lead us to... This place was quite over rated as the guide will take you there and explain the naming of Pigeon Valley. Nothing quite significant as pigeons used to make their houses in this mountain wall. Can be given a miss

We found Pidgeon Valley to be well signposted from Uchisar (in our experience not many valleys are) but as we'd travelled by car to see the Castle we were unable to complete the walk to Goreme and back. With hindsight we should have caught a bus (or hired a taxi) to Uchisar and then hiked through the beautiful green valley... More

We were dropped at uchisar castle and walked the valley. It took 1 hour from the castle to the edge of Goreme and another 10 mins to the center of town. It was an easy walk, mainly flat or downhill. The track is wide at the beginning and end but narrows to single file in the Centre. A few places... More

The formations and colours of the rocks, along with the old use of windows and rock-cuts for pigeon breeding, and a lovely walk through the valley, make this fascinating.

OK. Let's be honest Most places in cappadocia..tend to be similar..it is stone mountains and views everywhere. ..the names are coined coz of some rocks resembling fairy chimney etc etc.. So this place has more pigeons coming and hence a spot to visit.. Evil eye tree for pictures and no doubt great views..each place merits 15minute halt at most.. If... More
