Gulludere is a pretty big and long valley famous for its rock formations, prevailing in whitish color.
We had a better view of it from our morning balloon flight than when we later came here with our rented car.

The landscape around Goreme is really beautiful and fascinating, and "out of this world". The fairy chimneys, the colours, the rocks, the valleys - its really magical and unique. Walking seems the best way to discover the valleys. Choose what you do and how far you go, depending on your level of fitness, of the season when you visit, how steep you like it etc.

We are not very fit and dont like steep paths, so we opted to see the beautiful rose valley (and other valleys around Goreme) only from above, but still it was beautiful and we very much enjoyed it.

Plan ahead if you want to watch sunset
1. Magnificent valley with unique tower shaped rocks.
2. The weather in Cappadocia in winter is pretty unstable as it often rains and snow.
3. Make sure to check the weather forecast before planning to see the sunset there.
4. Great view with cool rocks. It’s worth a go if ur in Cappadocia.

The Rose Valley/Güllüdere Vadisi is located in between Göreme and Avanos Towns in the City of Nevşehir. If you are in the Region of Cappadocia, it is worth to visit and make a trekking there. You can access to the valley either via Cavusin Village or via the highway from Goreme to Avanos. The colour of the soil is rosy in the valley. You will enjoy the take many photos. If you make a visit in summer time, the best time for visit can be the sunset time. Some hot balloon tours also make a flight over the Rose Valley. Enjoy your time at the Rose Valley :)

It was like heaven. It was amazing hike in there! It wasn't hard to find the churches. I recommend to wear hiking boots. Some places were hard to climb. You should see cross church! Amazing view.

We actually saw this sight from a balloon--which is something you have to do while in Goreme, Turkey. All of the geologic wonders are unlocked and enjoyed from the peaceful ballooning that is readily available here. It is an activity for all ages with much less strain and pure enjoyment. My husband and I were on a tour of Turkey with OAT so it was an optional excursion that we were so pleased we took. Research the area and activity before you venture into Turkey. Our group used Kapadokya Balloons and the Pilot, Seyit Onsaf was so skilled that he landed our basket right ON the bed of the truck that transported it. We have been on several balloon adventures and none of our other pilots had that ability. Be prepared for a very early morning (5 a.m. to be picked up at your hotel) because ballooning requires cool weather in order to ascend. We were told to wear warm clothes because it is cool in the upper atmosphere, but the day we were there the weather was quite nice. There is a little ceremony following the ballooning where we congratulate the pilot and each other with flutes of fruit juices and receive personalized certificates. All in all, a well-planned and exciting event.

I would highly recommend if you are in town to visit Goreme. The hike is easy and lots to explore. I would recommend giving it 2-3 hours to go through all the caves and see the valley from different angles. You have the option to stay on the stair trail or on the dirt both are easy and not difficult.

Stopped here on the way to look out . Cool picture spot, lots of people around it so it was hard to get a good shot.

From the topside of the canyons it is interesting to see the eroded landscape. Walking below though the valleys you appreciate the natural beauty of the area. Also it is down below less busy so you have the area to yourself.
