Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I recommend a trip to this temple because up on the hill with a beautiful view. Also not too busy, you can pray and stay there for a while to relax.

Said to contain Buddha's ashes.
Mmmm! He died two & half thousand years ago.
Still worth a visit. Beautiful white building.
Surrounded by cloister, full of statues of Buddha. Believe you can enter, if you fancy walking up all the steps.

We viewed this temple during our day trip with Mr Benz who knows his way around this area as he was born in Phetchaburi. Some interesting old artwork on the walls gives an idea of the age. Well worth a visit if you are in Phetchaburi.

Amazing temple and kind people. Amazing crypt at the back showing Buddhas. A must see. We took our 9 and 6 year old and thought it was good. We also bought water animals to release into Phetchaburi river.

Booked a 4-stop day trip via hotel using World Travel Service Ltd. Our guide, Mee, was a lovely lady and very knowledgeable. She gave each of us flowers, incense and gold leaf and talked us through the prayer/ceremony process, which was a lovely experience. The statues are laden with 'gold leaf', low-lit and the wall murals are beautiful, albeit a little faded. The temple is located in a very busy part of town and surrounded by awning-clad building sites - a shame. It was also full of secondary school-age children in uniform (as their school is within the temple grounds). By the way, there are somewhat primitive toilets there (you 'flush' the floor-toilet with a bowl of water), so take some tissues and hold your nose! A brief, but good visit.

This very beautiful Wat was located near my guesthouse so I walked past it every day during my 5 day stay in the lovely town of Petchaburi...there are many Wats scattered all over town, but this one truly stands out, there's much to see both outside and inside, and on each visit I discovered new details

Phetchaburi is renown for its stucco work and the buildings at Wat Mahathat Worawihan have many splendid works on the outside. Don’t just go see the 5 prang stupa- LOOK at the buildings.

This Wat comprises of five large prangs, a viharn, an ubosot, several chedis, the kuti and several other monastic buildings. Most eye catching are the five white prangs towering above the area, that are visible from much of Phetchaburi town. The temple is also known for its extensive fine stucco work. It is a busy temple where devotees make merit by burning incense sticks, offering flowers and applying gold leaf on Buddha images. Near the entrance a group of dancers and musicians performs wearing traditional clothing.

One of the big three temples in Phetchaburi and the towers stand out for miles and can be seen from anywhere in town. The wall paintings are amazing albeit slightly faded and the Buddhas make a good focal point. The only down side is that it is in a noisy part of town which takes away its mystical charm somewhat.
