About
ElephantsWorld was founded in 2008 and is a sanctuary for sick, old, disabled, abused and rescued elephants, who will receive the rest and joy that they deserve. They can enjoy themselves in their own natural environment here until their last breath. At ElephantsWorld we work for the elephants, instead of them for us! As a visitor you get to enjoy very memorable experience with these beautiful animals. You can help us with taking care of them by feeding them, gathering food and bathing them.

A Must Day Trip When in Bangkok
Oct. 2021 • Solo
I visited Elephants World in Kanchanaburi as a solo traveler and it was amazing! I had an up close and personal tour. This is an ethical elephant sanctuary (no riding elephants or shows) but it is fully interactive. I was able to feed them, help cut down banana trees, bathe them, made rice balls for the older ones who can only eat soft foods and then hand fed the rice balls to them. I highly recommend this day trip! The experience was amazing and they really need all the help they can get right now. If you’re in Bangkok this is an easy day trip. Don’t miss it!

Up close and personal with elephants

We visited Elephants World and had a fantastic time. We had the full day package including transportation to and from our hotel. We started the day by hand feeding elephants and getting to know our guide and the history of the sanctuary. Then we helped to make sticky rice for the elderly elephants with no more teeth, cooking it and mixing in the nutrient pellets. Then we helped to cut banana trees and brought those back to the site. We had a lovely break for lunch, and then it was time for more elephant feeding (they do need to eat a lot). We balled the sticky rice to feed it to the 76 year old elephant and had to put it right into her mouth as her trunk would’ve broken the balls up. Then it was time to help bathe the elephants in the river. We ended our visit by feeding a three year old “baby” and a 14 year old that loved to talk.
I highly recommend this site. Don’t forget to bring a change of clothes for after you bathe the elephants. It was a great way to get an elephant experience without any elephants being harmed.

Amazing experience and respectful to all

My wife and I visited today and had a lovely time. Eating lunch by the river and the elephants, feeding them, and then bathing them. They are very sweet and understood by their mamouts. Ehdar, our guide was very kind and conscientious. He anticipated our wants and so we never needed to ask for anything, be it advice, pictures, or food.

We hope to come back soon.

Went to this beautiful open sanctuary on my trip to Thailand in November & it was the best experience! The staff is super friendly & helpful. You can tell they really love the animals, and vice versa. We booked our vacation through groupon and this came included in the package- 10/10 recommend!

Unforgettable morning

Such an honour to get up close and personal with the elephants. Get involved with using a machete to cut the long grass, make banana balls for the toothless elephants, smother them in mud and brush them clean in the river. A lovely lunch provided too.

Great visit

We joined the half day program (morning visit). Got picked up at our hotel in the morning, included in the price. Our guide (Niti) was great, and we joined the feeding of the Elephants. After the feeding we joined the bathing. You get to be real up close and personal with the elephants. Great experience. (We brought our four months old baby in a baby carrier, and it worked out great. Just remember a sun-hat)

Nice half day tour including some lunch.
Elephants, to me, seem to be very relaxed and curious. Enjoy, with respect.
