Description:

Hutsadin Elephant Foundation offers the visitor a variety of attractions....

Hutsadin Elephant Foundation offers the visitor a variety of attractions. At present we have 4 elephants available for trekking or for our latest option of bareback riding. Each trek or ride will take you through the surrounding areas. After your trek you will be able to watch a small show by our youngest elephant, or if you would prefer you are welcome to wash her instead and there will be plenty of opportunities for some amazing photos. After this you may want to visit our retired elephants.

If you prefer a more hands approach, you may want to try our 'mahout experience' where you will get a talk about the foundation and its ethos plus the individual stories of all our elephants and why they were rescued, you will also help to take care of our retired elephants for the morning(9.00a.m - 12.00), in this time you will get to prepare food, give medication, clean their shelters, take one for a walk and then give her a wash. Will receive a t shirt to remember your time with us and you are welcome to have a free vegetarian lunch and ice cream to finish your morning. (please e mail for details as only available on certain days and only small groups are taken). If you can't spare three hours but still want something 'hands on' you can take one of elephants for a walk and then wash then on return - approximately 1/2 hour. If you just want to have a look around the foundation and chat to some of the English speaking volunteers you are more than welcome and there is no charge, however they are only there on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday morning. All of our elephants have been rescued and all have their own story, there is an information board near the seating area where you can learn more about each individual elephant.A final word to clarify the situation :- you may be asked for a tip or to buy trinkets from the mahouts - this is entirely up to you and is not supported by the foundation. Any money that you give to the mahouts DOES NOT go into the foundation funds and is not used to buy food etc (no matter what you may be told). Should you wish to make a donation please put it into the box in the front office or give to one of the volunteers. As a warning, some taxi/tuk tuk drivers will try to take you to other elephant attractions - to ensure that you come to Hutsadin phone the number at the top of the page we can provide a taxi that will bring you here. If you are making your own way, our staff all wear white clothing, volunteers wear Hutsadin t shirts. We are located at the very top of the hill (coming from town) on the right hand side, go past the signs and turning for Elephant Village We hope that you enjoy your visit and find it a memorable experience. Please post your comments on tripadvisor for the benefit of others.

We spent a lovely few hours at Hutsadin at the end of March and I’m so glad that we did. We had 3 weeks in Thailand and did lots of great stuff but this was our childrens (age 9 and 3) favourite experience. We got a taxi from Hua Hin and the driver tried to talk us into going to... More

There are quite a few places to visit elephants in Hua Hin. This is a place which rescues and cares for these gentle giants (sometimes from other elephant attractions!) One can have short rides but the attraction is walking with, feeding and bathing them. This place relies on volunteers and donations and the love of their animals is very evident.... More

Thank you for your review - as one of the volunteers I can honestly say that we all adore our elephants and care for them as best as we can. Walking with one of the elephants is only one of our 'hands on' activities and is one of the most popular. Thanks for visiting us :) More

The elephant trip was nice but not very special (we had the 600 baht trip) (near Chiang Mai for example it is much longer and in a more beautiful surrounding, and cheaper), The whole atmosphere is extremely commercial, also the elephant driver was trying to sell us souvenirs again (as I have read here before). Just before this elephant camp... More

Sorry that you felt we were very commercial. Of course Chiang Mai offers a beautiful environment in a jungle setting but we are on the outskirts of a major town and we are offering activities that are much more interactive than trekking. We are the cheapest elephant camp around and we offer more activities than you would be offered elsewhere.... More

I've previously been to the elephant shows. And ridden them etc and I'm not a huge fan of the activity. Here you pay (600bht per adult and 400 per child) and you can go for a walk and wash an elephant. It's not cheap but it's quite a lovely way to spend an hour or so. You are very close... More

Glad that you enjoyed your walk with an elephant - an amazing activity that gets you really close to one of our gentle giants and then gives you the opportunity to give her a shower as well. You won't find this activity being offered anywhere else in the Hua Hin area and actually it is cheaper than trekking when you... More

Wow so glad ee came here. , only 10 ,inut s outside of Hua Hin, we took our hired scooter but a taxi is still cheap. We were greeted by yhthe lovely Thai staff who asked us which tour we would like to go on, I would advise against the elephant ride as they are trying to stop this we... More

Thanks so much for your lovely review. The volunteers are trying to persuade our visitors to take our 'hands on' options over trekking and we are definitely winning:) The walk with an elephant and the mahout experience are becoming so popular and all the volunteers are incredibly proud of the work we are doing there :) More

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. However I think there has been a typing error on the "one million baht" for land, I'm afraid that we need to raise at least 30 times that mount and probably a lot more:) Our youngest elephant is always a star and everyone loves her but we also have some... Went for a visit today! Wow! The work they are trying to do here is amazing! Yes most of these beautiful creatures have had a traumatic past, but they're being taken care of now! The volunteers work so hard to help. It's worth a trip, but please just take them for a walk, they're getting too old to be lugging... More

Thanks for such a positive review - our ellies are all loved and cared for by the volunteers and we will continue to promote hands on experiences over trekking. By the way, our oldest elephant doesn't work at all she is fully retired and her job is to "look pretty and demand attention" for the rest of her days :) More

Wonderful experience. We paid to walk with the elephants and then feed and wash them. We had an English guide who was excellent. You can tell that the elephants are well looked after and not treated badly. Fantastic experience and would recommend this trip, but do not go to any other place as there the elephants are missed treated, but... More

Thank you so much for taking the opportunity to take one of our gorgeous elephants for a walk - a truly interactive experience and one that is becoming extremely popular. We do still offer treks but this is something that the volunteers are trying to dissuade visitors from doing. Hopefully the owner will soon stop this activity for most people... More

Wonderful chance to see beautiful animals up close. My daughter and I had a trek through the hills and then had a chance to wash the baby elephant. Getting sneezed on by an elephant is quite something! The elephants all looked extremely well cared for. Well worth a visit.
