Located pretty much in the tourist area of Chiang Rai, this Buddhist temple is built in the tradition style of Thai architecture. The colours are predominantly are in a striking combination of red and gold. The main attraction is the giant golden statue of Buddha in the main hall. What's really nice is that there are often monks by the altar, ready to provide blessings to worshippers. The grounds of the temple also has many statues of Buddha, including 7 statues corresponding to the days of the week.

A typical Thai temple, easily found near the centre of Chiang Rai and the night market.

It can't compare to many more famous temples but worth 5 or 10 minutes to view if you are nearby, which you probably are.

Good pictures and statues inside, and the usual nagas and other creatures guarding the outside.

This is a quiet and unassuming temple away from the tourists. It is in a good location near some good restaurants. You may visit once you are tired of the main attractions.

This is a simple temple you can walk to near the night market. It is colorful and nice. Nothing much compared to the other famous temple.

This is a great temple with a big golden Buddha. I’ve visited numerous temples whilst in Thailand and there are only a few which stand out. This is one of them.

A grand temple truly reflective of Buddhist culture, the building boasts many interesting paintings and the pillars are nicely decorated.

The ceiling is also impressive.

Good for a half hour walk-around.

Located in the city center on the same street as the lady bars. One of the least visited temple in Chiang Rai. It also has a namesake temple in Chiang Mai, but they are quite different. While Wat Jed Yod in Chiang Mai has a brick chedi with beautiful stucco decorations, here the chedi has no stucco, is painted un white and complete. The veranda is richly decorated with floral themes and ceiling the astrological fresco. The main building which houses a large golden sitting Buddha with a very friendly expression surrounded by colorful murals. Behind the main building stands the white chedi with seven golden arrows - Jed Yod means seven peaks in Thai.

The owner of the Guest House where I stayed in Chiang Rai suggested 7 wats for me to visit in his city. All of them are located around the city center. He wrote their names in Thai so I could show my list to the locals when asking for directions.

The first one in my list is this attraction, about. 7-minute walk from my guesthouse. I like the white walls surrounding the wat, the statue of a tiger, the big statue of seated Buddha surrounded by several seated smaller buddhas, and the friendly staff.

One of the staff speaks English and talked to me. He also gave me instruction on how to go to the second wat in my list.
