Until quite recently my experience of Thailand and its beaches had been decidedly narrow. I had always gone to the beach as part of a holiday trip. The destination would be a decent hotel either on or near a good beach. And when we got...More

Further down the beach, away from the beach chairs and umbrellas, there is a nice walk (concrete footpath rather than a wooden boardwalk!) along the seafront with the waves slapping against the rocks. It's less crowded at weekends and is a pleasant stroll.

Loads of deckchairs and food stands. Banana boats, rings etc. nice sand. Seems family friendly, very busy at weekends as it is close to Bangkok.

I live in Bang saen and it frustrates me at the condition of the beach. If it's not beer bottles and food waste it's plastic bags and dig excrement.I would not take my children onto the beach. At the weekend there are 100's of visitors...More

I am hoping to get to Bang Saen in the evening (flight will arrive from Chiang Mai) around 8.30pm . Anyone know if they are indeed any buses in the evening. Everything i am finding online seems to say they end quite earlier. As it is just an hour away any idea what the cost of a taxi might be? once again i had a look online but i saw such a variety trying to decide if worth attempting to get there that night or not?

Eating dogs is a Korean & Vietnam thing----not Thailand. There are however a lot of soi (street) dogs depending where you are---they seem to get fed though. Thais own a lot of dogs but they are not treated as pets the way... More
