This is the company you need to go with if you want to climb Kilimanjaro or go on Safari. If we were to climb Kilimanjaro again, I would want to go with the same crew and use the same company. We are so glad we entrusted Majestic Kilimanjaro to lead us on our trip of a lifetime up Mt. Kilimanjaro, given there are so many companies to choose from. After a lot of research, we wanted to pick a company where the profits went back into the community and where the staff are treated well. Majestic Kilimanjaro went above and beyond our expectations.

A crew of 30 people led our group of 7 up and down the mountain over the course of 8 days. If I ever did this hike again, I would want the exact same crew with me. Some notable people include:

Our Guides: Leonard (Head Guide), Kefes, and Baraka M. were personable, professional, knowledgeable, and took great care to watch over us and ensuring we were all healthy enough to progress up the mountain. A couple of our group members struggled with the altitude, but our guides provided them amazing care. They gave us four rules: Go slow, Eat lots, Drink Lots and Listen to your guides. We followed their rules, and all seven of us successfully summitted! I also loved being able to talk with them and learn about Geographical formations we saw along the way.

Our Chef: Rashid provided amazing feasts for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I am Celiac and so he was able to accommodate my Gluten Free diet no problem. He also provided a dairy free menu for some other people in our group. He is trained to accommodate various dietary needs. We ate bacon and eggs, pancakes, GF pancakes, fresh fruit, egg scrambles, sausage, tea, and coffee. For lunch and dinners we were treated to fried chicken, spaghetti, various soups and vegetables, fajitas and burritos. All made from scratch. We barely touched our snacks that we brought with us because we ate so well; much better than we expected.

Food Waiters: Gidion and Freddie were so personable, welcoming, and helpful every day filling up our water bottles, waking us up with coffee and tea and joining us on Summit day where we “skied” down the ashes of Kili.

The Porters and Tent Crew worked so hard and provided great care with our bags and setting up the tents, we couldn't have asked for a better team. Special shout out to Joshua and Baraka for having a tough job managing the sanitation!!

If you are not convinced this is the company to go with, we also did a fantastic 3 day safari with Majestic. The Toyota Landcruisers gave all passengers equal access to the parks we visited. But what stood out for us was our daughter left her hat in a a safari truck when it dropped us back at the hotel. When she realized is was missing the next day, we called Tumani to see if the hat was in the jeep. It was, and he had someone from the company meet us at the airport to drop it off. How amazing is that?!?! I highly recommend this company. They are amazing, and would trust them to take us up that spectacular mountain again!!

After deciding to climb Kilimanjaro to raise money for Farleigh Hospice we chose Majestic Kilimanjaro to help us achieve our goal. From the very beginning Tumaini was responsive to our questions and helped us ensure we had the right equipment or organise hire for the bits we didn't have. On arrival we were picked up at the airport and taken to Planet Lodge, which was a really welcoming place to stay, before meeting our guide Leo. Over the next 8 days Leo, Julius (our assistant guide) and James, our chef, were absolutely brilliant. The porters did a great job in getting our camps set up for us each day, the food was fantastic and everything we needed was dealt with leaving us to just focus on getting to the summit!

Following the climb we went on safari and our guide January was welcoming, knowledgeable and took us to some beautiful locations to see some incredible wildlife. All of the accommodation was top quality, with great food and locations, perfect for relaxing after the climb!

I can't recommend them enough and we're already thinking about coming back to climb Meru, go on safari in the Serengeti and visit Zanzibar!

We came back last week from our trip to Tanzania. We went up to the top of Kilimanjaro and we did 3 safari with Majestic Kilimanjaro. This was a wonderful experience! The guide Noel and Ayugu were great and supportive all time, we couldn’t wish better guides (Thank you!). The all team was great, the chef spoiled us every single day and the whole porters team were great! All trip was organized in the best way possible and we did enjoy every single moment! The three safari and excursions we did ( Ngoro-Ngoro, lake Manyara and Tarangiri) were also greatly organized and the resort/hotel chosen were simply awesome! We have had a great holiday and for sure an unforgettable experience. We do warmly recommend Majestic Kilimanjaro organization.

Majestic Kilimanjaro made our dream adventure trip a perfect experience. As an events organizer and avid traveler, I’ve worked with numerous tour companies around the world — Majestic Kilimanjaro is one of the best!

Logistics — From first email inquiry through to packing and payment, Tumaini was responsive and helpful with all our planning needs. Our pre-hike hotel selections were great (we chose the African Tulip, which was lovely) and our airport transfers and pre-hike planning all went smoothly. Even when we had to change our flights, Tumaini was able to help us with the logistics including booking us a one-day safari tour of Tarangire Park, which was terrific.

Guides — We went as a private party of 4 (two adults, two teenagers) and our two guides — Noel & Julius — were fantastic. These two very knowledgeable professionals made sure that we were safe and prepared, that we learned about the mountain and had fun on our hike, and that we made it to the Summit! Speaking with them on hikes and at meals, learning about Tanzania, and hearing their passion for Kili added to the wonderful time.

Porters & Experience — As a party of 4, we were supported by 17 porters who were the real stars of the experience. From making our camp to amazing food and snacks to smiling early morning wake-up calls, these men did absolutely everything to make sure we were fed, rested, having fun, and ready to truly enjoy our experience on Kili. My son celebrated his birthday on the hike and they went above and beyond to provide a birthday cake! We had singing, laughing…. On the trail, you constantly see smiles and hear “Jambo! Jambo!” You have to see these porters carrying all of the gear and food and water up and down Kili — it’s so impressive!

The Mountain — Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro is a beautiful experience. We did the 7 day Lemosho Route and loved it. The different terrains and topography are stunning, and if you are able to reach the Summit it is a fantastic achievement. The team at Majestic Kilimanjaro did absolutely everything to ensure we had a positive experience — they truly delivered!

Majestic Kilimanjaro does a great job of preparing you to have a successful trip. My only add would be to their packing list — they need to include: Bring a lot of chapstick!

I chose this company because they are Tanzania owned & take great care of their porters/guides. I did an 8-day Kilimanjaro climb as a solo climber, but they treated me like family & I never felt alone. They were very professional at every level, going above & beyond to make the experience run smoothly from start to finish. The owner, Tumaini, picked me up from the airport personally, & arranged a wonderful hotel (Outpost Lodge) before/after the climb.

My guide Noel was a delightful person to hike with each day, as well as extremely knowledgeable & experienced about the mountain. He was very organized & kept me informed about each day’s itinerary. He helped prepare me for each phase of the climb with sound advice & was very good about adjusting his pacing/route to meet my needs.

Chef Amani (& assistant Jonas) made the most delicious meals! Each dish was carefully crafted with balanced nutrition to fuel the demands of climbing/altitude, including fresh fruit/vegetables, proteins/carbs, & amazingly tasty soups.

My personal assistant/waiter Baraka as well as the entire team of porters (Willi, Joshua, Thomas, Raymond, Bricen, Earnest, Jonas, & Donni) took such great care of me and were so kind, playful, and funny! I truly miss all of them since I’ve left and have been keeping in contact with them each week since I’ve been home.

I would definitely climb with this company again a thousand times over, and highly recommend them to anyone seeking an amazing climbing experience on Kilimanjaro!

One of the most important things for you to do in your preparation for a successful climb is to choose the right trekking company. Fortunately, I can say with hindsight and observation of other outfits that choosing Majestic was my best decision by far!
My 10 yr old son and I chose the 8-day Lemosho route. Our head guide was Robert and 2IC was Nayman. You literally can't get better than them. 100% satisfied with their personal conduct, knowledge (knowledge of the mountain and its historical geology as well as its relationship to human history, the wildlife, the plant species and their medicinal qualities etc), advice, and friendship. Robert in particular gave sound medical advice to my son when he started vomiting on day 3 and caringly Robert and Nayman nurtured him through that day to full recovery. What a great experience!
But it went way beyond that - behind the scenes, there's the crew you don't meet but rely on to get everything right for you. Steve and Tumaini never missed a beat. Full of advice and experience. Another major feather in the Majestic cap is how they treat their guides and porters, and to add to that the company gives back to the local community. That means a lot.
Apart from the Kilimanjaro trek, Majestic also arranged a 6-day safari for my wife and other son. Same thing - 100% satisfied. Benno was extremely knowledgeable and polite and made my wife's first trip to Africa one of the best experiences of her life. And a new, clean and comfortable Majestic-owned Landcruiser made the whole safari all the more enjoyable.
So well done Majestic - ten points! If you're reading this and sitting on the fence wondering which guiding operator to choose - jump! Book now. You won't regret it.

Family summit to Kilimanjaro (4 children, including a 10 year-old). It has been some time since our summit, and originally I had no comparison, but since I’ve used other trekking companies for international hikes. I can now say with certainty that these people are excellent.

The staff, including the guides, porters, and cooks were genuinely interested in not succeeding. They were very knowledgeable and extremely attentive. Given are unique situation with young children, they did an excellent job. Some days are very difficult for me, my kids actually did better than me.

Our guides Ben, Kifas, and Nixon were great. Ben spoke very good English. The porters were the best I’ve seen, always getting set up before we arrived. The food was good, and remarkable given the obscure location.

If your family is into camping and hiking, and wants a real challenge, I would recommend this group of people. I would not have summited without them.

Our short safari days were amazing too.

My family and I completed the five day, semi-luxury safari with Majestic Kilimanjaro in December/January. Our trip was fantastic from start to finish, largely in part to our safari guide Thomson. Thomson was friendly, funny, extremely knowledgeable and tolerant of my crazy family! We were able to see every animal on our "list" thanks to Thomson's determination and knowledge of the Serengeti! Thomson was willing to take breaks for snacking, restrooms etc. whenever requested and really let us guide the safari - while making sure we got the most of our time. In regards to lodging, the tents and lodges were more spacious and comfortable than expected and staff at all of the camps were very friendly and welcoming. The views are incredible and the weather during the time we went was perfect (70-80 degrees Fahrenheit on average). I would highly recommend booking with Majestic Kilimanjaro and requesting Thomson to be your guide!

From day 1 when I made the enquiry, Tumaini made me feel comfortable and dealt with everything with utmost professionalism.

The challenge was a very big one for me, but Tumaini's team were extraordinary. From the porters to the head guide they were all amazing people, and taught me so much,,, not so much about being fit enough to take on a challenge, but more about being,, happy.

They work so so hard and make you feel so special. I will never,, forget them,, I have made some very good friends. Massive respect to head guide Ibrahim, and his right hand man Israel who without, I would never have completed this challenge. Our waiter George is a very special young man, who I expect to see being a guide himself when I return. But then there is the chef,, omg he is good, you will be guaranteed first class cuisine thank you Amani for the excellent meals.

I was told this trip would be life changing, and it is.. fortunately for me, I did it with the best group of people you will ever meet,, and I will never ever forget them.. Thank you so much Tumaini and Majestic Kilimanjaro.

If you want to do Kilimanjaro, please book with Tumaini

Dear Rightrava, I think that what you have expressed in your review, is what my husband and I (Steve and Liana) felt when we first climbed with Tumaini. The hard work, level of support and care, and their sense of joy inspired us to create Majestic Kilimanjaro with Tumaini in 2011. We wanted to provide opportunities to Tumaini, guides and porters to do well in life because they deserved it. You might be pleased to know that Amani started as a porter and was trained by us and our chef Rashid to become a mountain chef and so improve his income and opportunity. The same has happened for other porters who also became chefs or guides. We sponsored one porter, Nelson, through University. We are so pleased that you experienced this trip as life changing, in a positive way! We are honoured to have been chosen to lead you on this quest. Thank you for taking the time to write this review, it really does make a difference to our business and therefore the work we can do. We look forward to welcoming you back one day. Regards, Liana on behalf of the entire Majestic Team
