Stunning building to look round even if the museum content doesn't interest you. Good explanation of 228. Friendly and helpful staff and it's totally free.

A small museum with a very local focus. It's hard to appreciate the exhibits and indeed the history of the museum building itself without some context, and it took me a while to figure that out from reading the display.

This museum had very little English information. However one of the volunteers had studied in our home town and showed us around some of the exhibits. Without him we would not have spent much time there at all

This is a fantastic museum about Taiwan's past in general, and aspects specific to the city of Kaohsiung in particular, i.e. the so-called 228 incident in1947, which resulted in the armed suppression of unarmed, protesting citizens, with majority of casualties & deaths took place at...More

The exhibits looked nice and I'm sure they are interesting but everything was in Chinese so I left after five minutes. It was free of charge though so If you can read Chinese then I think you should go and visit the place.

I can't read Chinese, and whilst there are lots of pictures/exhibits, there is very little English at all. I spent about 15 minutes walking round but didn't learn anything.

After admiring the vintage building itself, there were only two exhibits that absorbed my time. The 228 Massacre made a strong impression as Taiwan comes to terms with the little known military suppression of democracy after WWII. The personal accounts of the survivors and their...More

Sometimes the local museums teach you the most. This was a sometime experience. It's free and I learned about the Aboriginal peoples of Taiwan and especially about the "228 Incident", which is an incredible story and fascinates me.
