Hike of a lifetime - conquer your fear of heights

This was the most amazing hike I've done (and I've done a lot of hikes). Well worth the effort of coordinating with your hotel/B&B on the necessary permits. Safety standards... read more

It's been a long time to hear this name "Zhuliu Old Trail" and see a lot of pictures on the internet ... Fortunately, a four-day holiday in February. I got this chance to visit the beautiful place in Hualian. I am proud of this place to introduce the people who never been there. It's not just awesome views on the... More

This was the most amazing hike I've done (and I've done a lot of hikes). Well worth the effort of coordinating with your hotel/B&B on the necessary permits. Safety standards in Taiwan differ to western countries, so you are need to take some responsibility for yourself and your fellow hikers on this walk. In some sections, the path is two... More

The 3.1km trail takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to hike up (mostly ascending) for the reasonsbly fit. Our guide says total elevation gained is about 700m (2,300 ft). There are two suspension bridges (one at the beginning) that offer good views of different portions of the gorge. Most of the trail are man-made stairs and provide good traction and... More

Loved the: BREATHTAKING, SPECTACULAR VIEW!!!!!! What I didn't like: Gosh, none really. Recommendations: 1. If you're a foreigner, hire a tour because of the logistics (example: you need to apply for a permit. Then the emergency contact must be Taiwanese.) If you are looking for a tour guide, may I suggest William from Eye Travel Taiwan. 2. Also practice on... More

It's worth to spend a day to go inside to explore the trail, you will not regret it! Prepare enough food and water but don't bring too many stuff. You must go to their two website to register to enter in advanced.

This hike is a multi-hour hike on a very steep, well maintained and marked trail. It is a steep up and back that can be done in half a day for a generally fit person. The part that is probably most famous is cut directly into the cliffside, about a meter wide, now with rope along the inside for those... More

Need to apply for permit (either through your hostel or through a guide). Would recommend hiring a guide (search Sherpa on Google), as there is much history behind this trail. He has trekked this route many times, and also shares his knowledge of the plants and nature.

First, you have to apply for the permission. Waiting for 1-2 working days then you will receive an email. Printing the permission out and handing it to the administrator are the tips to get inside. Enjoy the gorgeous scenery.

Never did the trail, but on our day tour of the taroko gorge we got to walk from one side of the suspension bridge to the opposite side and back. Beautiful views of the massive gorge and river below. Also, waterfall in the tropical forested area can be seen from the bridge. November 2016.

the typical tourist day trip only visits places along the bottom of the gorge. if you do the specialist tour for this walk you get the additional view of looking down on the tiny humans and toy-like buses hundreds of metres vertically vertically below you from a narrow track that was insanely carved into a stupendous vertical to cliff -...
