This little observatory is not worth specifically setting out to see, more of a curiosity if you happen to be passing by. It's a well preserved tower, but there is not anything to do other than see it from a distance.

This is the oldest astronomical observatory in East Asia. The bottle shaped tower has a square opening through which an observer can can ascend to the top.

If you are already in the area, this place is worth a stop. You can dress up in traditional Shilla dynasty clothes for free and snap a few pictures. There is not much depth in history and information. It left me longing for more history...More

We visited during the cherry blossom season. The fields were covered with yellow rapeseed and together with the pink cherry blossoms and the mountain in the background, made for beautiful photos. However the Observatory itself was rather unimpressive. I would have found it disappointing if...More

Loved the surrounding areas with flowers / cherry blossom trees. It is a good area for night shots also as the area is lit up at night.

This was one of the major things we came all the way to Gyeongju to see. I don't know what we were expecting to be honest but we were pretty underwhelmed. Something about it just translates well into pictures and falls flat in real life....More

When we were planning the trip before we left, I did not put this on the list of places to visit while in Gyeongju. We stumbled across it as we were walking towards the Daereungwon Tomb Complex. I actually found it quite interesting and would...More

Easy reach by bus and near other traditional attractions. No admittion fee need. Both DAY & night photo of Chromosome are excellent. There are lots of Korean style restaurants along that area.
