although the remains left are really "remains" having a look at the reproduction gives you a better sense of the "palace" meaning at that time, a rest at the pavillion is a must (when the wind blows)

The Pagoda is lit up so beautifully at night and the lights reflect off of the pond. In addition, the lotus gardens are absolutely amazing. If you go at night beware of the may bugs drawn to the lights.

We toured this place at sunset. Best time of the day to go is sunset. The place is wonderful. Easy stroll on the walkway around the pond take about 30 minutes at a normal pace.

This place offers you a great night view. The area is not that big, so you can walk around the palace and pond in 30 mins. I have lived in Gyeongju for about a year and a half, and I always recommend this place to...More

This place is highly recommended to be visited during the night due to how the lights from the buildings and trees reflect on the lake. You'll need to pay an entrance fee for this place and there's a path circling the pond that you'll need...More

This is an area where they found archeological evidence of buildings and a huge pond, and they've rebuilt it to a degree. The pond is really beautiful! There's no way to know for sure what it looked like in the past, but the modern version...More

A nice walk and a few good spots for pictures along the pond. Worth it if you have the time. 2000won per person and it is open until 10pm so you can check out the lit up pavilions.

A must visit for beautiful photos. Must take photo of the day view and night view. We searched for a strategic spot to take the full view of the three pavilions.

Visited this reconstructed 'palace' as part of a day trip; wished we could have stayed to see it at night when it was lit up. Anyhow, we had a nice peaceful walk around the like during the day. The few reconstructed buildings were nice but...More

The sunset should be c 1745 so with some allowance for the lights, a proper visit and hour bus to Seoul, I would suggest the 2000 bus.
