Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I've been there to pay parking fines and to register my dog, but I was unaware Albany City Hall was a tourist attraction. I will say that they did a fine job collecting my money and were very prompt in depositing my checks. Hence, the three stars.

There are no numbers on the outside of these buildings on Eagle Street so if you have to do any business at City Hall it does make it difficult if you're not familiar with the area .

I love the interior of this building. Reminds me of the ghostbusters movie. you can definitely see the old world inside this building. They have this super cool wooden elevator that still works.

Had breakfast at a nice restaurant on Madison. Loaded the meter with more money than needed we were sure. Got dinged anyway. There was no ticket anywhere on the vehicle. Two weeks later we get a delinquent parking notice for $65.00. We don’t need to eat in Albany anymore.

A working museum as it were, not as much to see really. But I think of all the deals made here during the 50 years of the O'Connell machine.

Needed to go to City Hall for a Dog's License. Everything worked out perfectly, immediately found parking , and was in and out in 15 minutes.

There are not many things to see in Albany but the City Hall is a building that is woths a detour. A splendid staircade, wonderful court rooms and a very intersting and unique architecture. If you are somewhere near, go and see it.

Combine this with a visit to downtown as it will only take a short while to visit. The architecture is beautiful, each floor has some art to view ( ie paintings).

If you are in Albany, be sure to at least look at the outside of City Hall. It represents H.H. Richardson at his best in his Richardson Romanesque style with various colors of granite around the arched entrance and the stunning bell tower. Inside is rather plain and you have to pass through security, so only real architecture nerds would appreciate it. Richardson used most of his energy (and Albany’s money) on the outside. The inside has more in common with the Allegheny County Court House in Pittsburgh with an open light court in the middle (just a much smaller version). There are a few paintings and murals, but it is not nearly as elaborate as the state capitol across the street.
