I would recommend walking up the four flights of the Million Dollar Staircase, steeped in history with intricate detailing. Check out the free tour. Then, after exploring head down to the other end of the Plaza to the NYS Museum. Highly recommend!

And good place to visit ! Has a lot of history ! Parking is hard to find ! Wonderful building to see , would be alittle boring for small kids !

The tour was 1 hour 20 minutes and the guide had answers for most questions. He was patient and methodical.

Hello Patti - The Capitol DOES NOT shut down for two weeks in the summer. The Capitol is open Monday - Friday, 7a to 7p and is closed on weekends and holidays. Free tours are offered Monday - Friday, at 10a, Noon, 2p, and... More
