I am in my early 60's, and recently took this trail to the summits of Cascade and Porter. Bottom line for older hikers is that this trail is challenging, but pays off with big Adirondack views. The trailhead is on State Route 73 between Lake...More

Easy to find entrance to trail. Arrived early (8:30am on a weekday) and was able to find parking. We hiked Cascade and Porter in 4 1/2 hours. It was very muddy in places, especially going over to Porter Mountain. Hiking boots a must!

My husband and I hiked Cascade Mountain yesterday and Porter. We read reviews on the mountains which we understood the hikes to be easy. We are 59 and 62 years of age and both physically fit. Of course we did not know what to expect....More

This is rated moderate in hiking difficulty. Our group is ages 5 to 66. With one* exception all made it to the summit. *The 62 year old stopped just shy. It took us about 5.5 hours to go up and back. Not too far from...More

While staying in Lake Placid my husband and I decided to do some hiking. After looking at a few trails we came a cross Cascade. One of the locals at our hotel noted it was the easiest of the other peaks. Although we haven't hiked...More
