A huge rocky park where you can come for a walk along routes of varying difficulty. We planned to take the longest one, but the rain and wind meanly spoiled our plan: they closed this route. But even so, we spent a lot of time walking along the rest of the routes. And spent a lot of strength to want even more than we went through. The park itself, although is interesting, but does not stand out for something special, but its, so to speak, edge... mountainous edge... This is a strip with an incredibly beautiful view on The Sea of Galilee and the surrounding it settlements. It is definitely worth to com here.
Entrance is not free, but you have a parking here inside. And a very small gift shop.
If it were not for the spoiled plans, I would give it 5, but because we could not see the interesting places of that route - 4.
P.S.: On the last Photo - there is a rather dangerous corner, right next to the precipice where you need to jump from top to bottom on stones. With normal conditions, it’s not scary, but there is wind there and it’s become dangerous. At this point, at least a small curb is needed. Located near the observation deck in the parking lot. A little north of it.

Very beautiful site on mountain to the west of the Sea of Galilee. Mentioned in Josefus Flavious, Jews hid in caves and fought off Roman army very similar to the story of Massada and Gamla.
Nature reserve and hiking trails. Administered by National Parks Association. Entrance fee, gift store and restrooms.

I had been to Israel a dozen times before visiting this site. It just didn't seem "Biblical" to me. Then I got to know a local from Kibbutz Ginosar and I asked him if he had ever seen stormy weather of the kind mentioned in the Bible when Jesus calmed the seas. He explained to me that rough seas were not caused by storm clouds, as I had imagined, but rather by fierce winds from the Med Sea that got funneled through the canyons ending at Mt. Arbel. He is a fisherman and he has seen these winds whip up the Sea of Galilee into dangerous waves. So I drove up to Mt. Arbel, and walked the 15 minute trail to the cliff face which is 1,247 feet (380 meters) above the base directly below. Wow was it windy! I held on to the safety railings for comfort. Yes, the panoramic view is wonderful. But to me the main attraction, if you are interested in the New Testament Bible, is feeling these winds and being better able to picture in your mind's eye how they could whip up the Sea of Galilee. It's a National Park, about 21 NIS to get in, unless you have the unlimited park entry pass.

We drove the long and winding road and when we got to the top we saw a sign that it was going to cost 22 shekels. I thought 22 shekels was a bit high, but I was willing to pay it. Then when I gave the attendant the 22 shekels he informed me that it was 22 shekels each. Forty shekels was just too much for us. So we turned around and headed back the long and winding road. Along the way we stopped and took photos of the Abel Pass. That was for free, The perfect price.

The trails up and down the cliffs of Mt. Arbel are more strenuous than other nature reserves in the area, but well worth the effort. The view from the Carob Lookout is spectacular, and the caves, cliff dwellings, and ruins of a fortress are a lot of fun to explore. We noticed several hikers weren't able to make the climb up to the fortress in addition to making it up and down the cliffs and walking extensively around the area, so a modicum of stamina is required to fully enjoy all the area has to offer.
Don't miss the ancient synagogue a few minutes down the road from the entrance to the cliff trails (it's on your right while driving uphill, on your left while driving down -- the sign is only in Hebrew, if I remember correctly, and simply says "Ancient Synagogue"). It's only a short walk from the parking area, and there are nice views in addition to being able to wander through 1,600-year-old ruins.

This is a great view of the Galilean region. You can get some spectacular shots of the Sea if the sky is clear. You may also get to see some hyacks climbing around.

On our way back home from visiting the Galillee my wife and I decided to stop to look at the view of the Kinneret from the Arbel. It was mid-day and 35 C.
Many people have written and posted pictures of the beauty of the place but I would like to add several words of warning.
In the summer and also when it is hot you will need to be driven to the park. Climbing the hill to the Arbel is challenging, to say the least.
Also It is about 300 meters from the park rest stop to the view point and there is no shade. You must bring water. If you go to visit go either in the early morning or in the evening, not at mid-day during the summer.
In spite of my words of warning, visiting the Arbel is well worth the visit.
There is an entrance fee.

If you've ever done the Angels Landing hike in Zions National Park then you will have a sense for the type of hike that one encounters when hiking down the cliff, along the trail to the fortress, then back up to the cliff-side fortress, then again down and back up the cliff to the top. We started the hike not having any idea what was ahead, but as we scrambled down, around, and then back up the cliffs, we greatly enjoyed the challenge and the views. The views of the surrounding area are fantastic. The fortress that has been partially restored is also very interesting, and we were alone there. This hike requires about 2 hours to complete, and some level of balance and fitness to scramble up and down the rocks, but we highly recommend it. It was a hidden gem for us in the Tiberius area. I would not recommend doing this hike if it was raining however, because the limestone get very slick when wet.

Mount Arbel is a mountain in The Lower Galilee near Tiberias in Israel, with high cliffs, views of Mount Hermon in the Golan Heights, trails to a cave-fortress, and ruins of an ancient synagogue. Mt. Arbel sits across from Mount Nitai; their cliffs were created as a result of the Jordan Rift Valley and the geological faults that produced the valleys.
There are four villages on the mountain: Kfar Zeitim, Arbel, Kfar Hittim, and Mitzpa. The peak, at 181 metres above sea level (380 metres above the surrounding area), dominates the surroundings (much of the area is below sea level) and from the lookout atop the mountain, almost all of the Galilee into the Golan Heights including Safed, Tiberias and most of the Sea of Galilee, is visible.

Looking over the Sea of Galilee at Kinneret Lookout, it’s a must visit if you’re in Tiberias, I personally don’t think it’s as dangerous as what some reviewers made it up to be; children aplenty from 4 make it up and down the slopes.
Hike up from the red trail (google for the map) to skip the entrance fee, there’s a parking lot there also! Very doable for someone with reasonable fitness.
Do hike early as it gets really hot in the afternoon, especially where you’re exposed to the sun. Have fun; you’re welcome!

Percorso breve: è vero che c’è la possibilità di fare un percorso breve (30”) per arrivare a un belvedere?
Vale la pena?

Are there viewpoints that can be reached by car? Or with very minimal hiking (how long/how hard)? Thanks!

Plenty of parking for cars nearby with washrooms and walking is easy.

Is it a
Dangerous hike?
Are there tour guides ?
Written 9 March 2019
There are no tour guides, at least there at the park. One might find a guide in Tiberius, but the park isn't so complex that a guide is needed. The hike is well marked and trail is well marked in English. As far as dangerous, the hike down, around and back up again does require some moderate level of fitness, dexterity and mobility. There are ample fixed handholds going up and down the cliff face, and if one is careful, there is very little danger. Kids would need some supervision especially if they were prone to pushing or shoving one another.

hello
i wanna ask how can i get to Arbel Park from Tiberias bus station? it seems no any bus can take me to the park. And it's too far to walk to the park. Do you have any suggestion? thanks!

I went to the website you suggested, but it was not in English. How can I change the language?

How did you get to Arbel National Park from Tiberius? We are going to visit Israel in December/January with a large group from our church. We have been before and are looking for things to do that we have not seen before. We will be in Tiberius for 3 nights and on one day while our group is touring sites that we have already seen we thought about exploring Tiberius and surrounding area on our own. Is that safe and possible for a couple ages 67 and 69? We are in very good shape and are experienced world travelers. How would we get to Arbel? I have read reviews that the hike is treacherous and some say it is not that bad. What are your thoughts?
Written 11 September 2018
Hi. Yes you can. There may be a place that you will find it hard, if it was to climb from Migdal area to the top of the mountain. But if you go from the other side. with your bus, that will take you straight up to the place and will have no difficulty to visit. Make sure you arrive in within the hours the park is open.

How much is the fee, to park at top without hiking up the cliff?
Written 3 May 2018
27 shekels entrance fee, if I remember - standard across all Israeli national parks! We dudn’t realise there was a top entrance! It is quite a cl8mb
