Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As I had an Israel national park pass and had some time left before departure of my flight, I could visit this place as a "gratis" while driving back from Caesarea to Tel-Aviv to which this is very close to. Nice park with beautiful view to the sea and a little fortress, however, it is really not big and there are not much to see...if you are in the same situation like me it is worth visiting for a great 30-60 minutes but otherwise not really. I think it is a bit overpriced for what you get (22 NIS for and adult - for a little child only 9 NIS), go to Caesarea instead :)

This is one of my favourite sites in Israel . History meets beauty! Crusader ruins in a beautiful park overlooking the Mediterranean. I go with my entire family including grandchildren every birthday for a picnic. Love it so much !

This is one of our family favorites. Stroller accessible. Good for a couple of hours with the kids. Beautiful setting with crusader ruins on cliffs above the Mediterranean. Like a mini-Caesaria in a sense, close to Tel Aviv, ancient ruins on the sea.

Apollonia has something for everyone. A great picnic spot. Plenty of space for children to explore. Easily accessible for those using wheelchairs. An easy climb for those who find it difficult to walk. And best of all the breathtaking scenery. The ruins are a bonus. Caesarea MARITIMA has a lot more to see but Apollonia is more family friendly There is plenty of parking space.

The prime attraction of this park, located about 20 minutes north of Tel Aviv is the ruins of a Crusader Castle. But, as well, there is an excavated Roman villa on the property that gives a hint of the long history of the area.
Because of the natural harbour people throughout the centuries, beginning with the Phoenicians, have established communities here.
The excavated Crusader castle is easily accessible and has a number of interpretive signs to explain the function of each area.
The park is relatively small so can be seen in a couple of hours. There is a small store for drinks and snacks on the premise.
If you have some time travelling on the coastal routes from Tel Aviv Apollonia is worth visiting.

Apollonia National Park has remains from the Roman period, a crusader castle, and the Islamic period. It is on the cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean coast, and very well kept. In Summer there are sometimes concerts there.
It is an easy walk from the Parking lot, and along the various paths, and is suitable for a family outing. There is also a section where "arms" used by the crusaders are demonstrated. Everything is signposted both in Hebrew and English, and together with the brochure received with the entry ticket no need for a guide. In spring one can observe the local wild flora and sometimes lizards, chameleons, tadpoles, and various birds and insects.
There is a kiosk for drinks and light refreshments and tables with benches for those wwho wish to picnic.
Was there many times with various guests, the last visit with my 8-year-old granddaughters who enjoyed it tremendously.

This is a great place to spend a Saturday afternoon. Come late-ish so as to avoid the picnic lunch crowd, but not too late as the park closes. This is agreat place for a brisk walk around the paved easy path that leads you by flowers, green grass and inetresting ruins to a wonderful sea view.

The Appollonia National Park is located on the outskirts of Herzilia and is interesting for a one-hour or so visit, if you like walking and are interested in history. It is easy to walk around as they have paved paths and has information panels about what you are seeing. A good family activity if you'd like to do something other than basking at the pool or walking around the Marina!

The city and fortress of Apollonia great are long gone. The site seats on the cliff out looking the mediterranean sea. During the summer I would strongly recommend coming as late as possible because the place is very hot and there is little shade. The whole place screams for more investments. In my mind a missed opportunity on a grand scale. Very little restoration or any other kind of education enhancement that would attract younger audience or larger crowds.

What would be the best/cheapest way to get here from Haifa? I would not be traveling on a Saturday.
Written 18 April 2017
Take a local bus from Haifa towards Tel Aviv. Ask the driver to leave you off at Kfar Shmaryahu (Rabin Interchange). From there you can take a cab or there may be a bus (I don't have the details).
Go right on Keren Hayesod St. to Wingate St. Turn right, keep going. Street changes name along the way.
Distance about 4 km.
Hope this helps.
