Enjoyed, but...
Aug. 2018 • Family
The museum is small - only a few rooms - and the current photography exhibit was nice, but did not wow us. I would have expected a gallery of this size to have been sponsored by the city and not to have charged admission at all. The renovated mosque next door would have been an additional cost to our ticket and we did not feel it was warranted. Noticeably lacking is a cafe of some sort to allow patrons to sit in the outside area and enjoy the ambiance of the two buildings. Maybe this is in their future plans?

Small museum but amazing and unforgettable

We came to the museum and to the Mosque which is part of the museum and serves as a space for changing exhibitions. We went there in the beginning of March 2018. there was an amazing exhibition in the mosque, of Anisa Ashqar, a Palestinian Israeli from Acco near Haifa. In the museum building there was a challenging exhibition by Etti Abergil, another well known artist from the center of Israel. I would not expand on the exhibitions because they will be over soon, but the museum space and the mosque are a pair of must visit to anyone wo passes Beer Sheva on the way to the South or back to the North !!

A piece of history as a museum

Have been there often enough over time. When in town for the day, good to drop in to see the newest exhibit(s) which change regularly. The fine old building has been renovated and put to wonderful use.

I have lived in the Negev for almost 50 years and had never gone inside-what a treat it was on a hot Friday morning. The place is lovely-has a senior discount-and is small but very well appointed

Two faces of an art

I like that museum shows modern conceptual local art in old Turkish building from XIX century and don't hide arabic heritage. I mean that second part of this museum is beautiful old mosque where you can see very interesting exhibition about arabic handwriting. So oriental and soo atractive. It shows that culture of Jews and Muslim is very special.

Small and beatiful museum

A highly recommended short visit in a unique, beatiful building with interesting and very aesthetic exhibition. Wonderful for stopping on your way for a desert hiking holiday.

Culture in Beersheva
May 2017 • Family
The exhibits change and they are usually dedicated to a certain artist or two. Most of the exhibits I've enjoyed. Some are hidden gems like their current one dealing with charcoal.

Art in the desert!

The Negev museum, changing exhibitions of modern art while in the other building you can enjoy an exhibition of islamic art. A beautiful place to visit and for artists to exhibit.

Another Gem in Be'er Sheva
Sep. 2016 • Couples
It took my husband and I two trips into the old part of Be'er Sheva to actually get inside (it was closed on Sunday), but it was worth a visit. The museum consists of two buildings: each you can visit separately, or buy a ticket to visit together. The Museum of Art had a rotating exhibit of modern art. This was by various artists with various degrees of abilities. My belief is that art is suppose to create a response by the viewer - whether good or bad - and this exhibits does exactly this. The Old Mosque currently has an exhibit of beautiful tiles and objects from Turkey. And this was an exhibit that I enjoy much more than the modern art exhibit. There is a wonderful movie showing the installation of tiles in Jerusalem - and two panels by her are on display here. It was well worth the two trips into the old part of the very confusing city to see this exhibit.

Stunning ceramics and tiles in the Middle Eastern culture section
Aug. 2016 • Solo
I only explored the Middle Eastern culture section of this museum but it was beautiful!! Lovely courtyard and even though its only one main room, considering the fairly cheap ticket, it was an excellent main exhibit. Definitely worth a visit if you have a quiet afternoon or morning to spend around the Old City.
