Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This entrance was a couple of minutes from where we stayed, next to Uri Buri restaurant by the sea walls. Easy to find and with parking nearby, if you're lucky.
Built by the Knights Templar to link their citadel with the old port these tunnels really are wonderfully engineered.
The tunnels were only discovered in 1994 and have since been renovated for tourists. There are a few information boards and it takes around 15 minutes to do the route from one end to the other and back again.

We had a little trouble locating the entrance, but the old city is an entertaining place to be lost, so we didn't mind. Got there in the end and enjoyed it. It doesn't take long to walk through and we exited right near the lighthouse where there are cafes and a lovely view of the harbour.

This was cool to go in as it is an old Templars tunnel under old Akko and you can walk through it. It has now filled with sea water so they have to pump it out. You walk on wooden boards on top of the water. You can enter and exit at either end of the tunnel. There is not much information.

Why only for your 1st visit?
Because the entrance fee is not so cheap adn the walk itself is not that long.
Still this is one of the main attractions in Akko, especially for your kids as long as they're not afraid to be in darkness
and therefore you should do it.
Fomo sometimes still rule you know :)

We got a bit lost looking for the entrance to this location and the area around it doesn't feel too safe. However, once reached the site is well done. It is simply tunnels and a short video to watch, so if you can't make it, it's not as cool as the citadel.

First, let's get the claustrophobia question out of the way. I do suffer from claustrophobia and had no problems. (YMMV) The tunnels are wide and only at one brief spot do you have to bend over.

But...it's not much of anything. If you have kids who must go through a tunnel, then, by all means. Otherwise, no value added here.

Historically fascinating but unless you understand its significance it's a wasted few minutes. It is the remnants of the "secret" tunnel from the "Crusader Fortress" further north (well worth the visit - the major underground site of ancient Acre - you should see it first).

Must bend down low to enter - not appropriate for seniors - neat for kids.

You can enter the tunnels in two different spots in town, one next to the sea side and one close to the citadel. It is a long walk in dimmed light, on a wooden boardwalk, with water flowing underneath. On occasion there are monitors depicting scenes from the past and pictures of tapestries. At some point you have to duck because the ceiling is quite low (5ft high). Not much impressive but not indifferent either, personally I liked it. You can get a combination ticket of 25NIS for visiting it (assuming the signage is clear to direct you to the entrance-which often is not).

The tunnels are very interesting and take you from one part of the old city to the sea. It’s informative and also, practical.

Walk through a tunnel, keep head down and wonder what the big deal was and is. Certainly not the highlight of Akko.
