Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

it was a beautiful time snorkelling at Gili layer! unfortunately, I had to share the experience with ridiculous tourists who were actually grabbing the sea turtle that we were all looking at to get pictures - as well as trampling over the coral with their fins. I honestly couldn't believe it, it made me so mad. Snorkeling companies or guides should give a briefing on how to act on coral reefs. respect the sea life!

Don't do the three most popular gili's. Jump on a boat and explore the lesser known ones like Gili Layar. You will have the ocean to yourself, the turtles are wild (not handfed) so when you finally see one, it feels absolutely magic. There is rubbish on the shores, yes, but nowhere near to the extent of the other islands. This is an almost untouched paradise but I urge you to go now- before it becomes flooded with tourists and becomes destroyed.

We started here in the Lumbung for 3 nights. The location is amazing. It's right on the beach and fantastic snorkelling right in front of the bungalows. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The generators work at night so you can charge up your devices and even watch a movie on a screen in the restaurant if you want to. Don't forget to take some time in the evenings to gaze up at the amazing show of stars.

This island for snorkelling is much better than the northern Gilis in Lombok. The coral reef is still alive and it's possible to see turtles and a good variety of fish.

We took a boat here from palmyra indah bungalows for snorkelling. It is a beautiful island with very few visitors and has beautiful clear water perfect for snorkelling. It really is a 'secret gili'.

We came here as part of a trip to several islands snorkelling. Unfortunately this was the last day of the Indonesian holidays so this island was packed with local boats. And the coral isn't going to last long with people walking out dipping their heads in the water or using floats and then standing on the coral if is starts to get deep. There is still some nice coral further out and an attempt to grow some with cages, but at a depth people could stand on at low tide. A beautiful beach but if not managed properly it wont retain it's beauty.

We stayed 4 nights at this charming little place, only place on the whole island. The place is run by two young brothers, which serve delicious food ( try the fresh caught grilled fish) and have great snorkeling and a very nice beach just outside. We had one of the small bungalows which are small and hot, with just a fan, but in a place like this it doesn't matter. We also took a snorkeling trip to the close by islands, which was very nice. There are some amazing spots You can rent snorkeling equipment.
Highly memorable and recommendable!

On arrival at 11:00am we were informed they had no food and very little drinks. Waited until 3:30pm for the boat to bring food from mainland. We were told the generator would run until 6:00am but...stopped at 3:30am... So no fan and very hot could not sleep. Booked for 3 nights but only stayed 1 night. The rooms are very very basic and not clean. 3 small rooms are extremely small, with shared bathroom. 2 larger rooms with private bathrooms, put cannot take shower if generator is not running. To bad it's so badly managed. Nice snorkeling in front of bungalows. Nice place for day trip only.

Hidden small Island, short boat trip from Lombok - Swimming, snorkeling, relaxing. We were the only visitors on this island paradise. Stay at the only accomodation on the island, Gili Layar Bungalows.

What a beautiful island, but unfortunately full with garbage. Another proof human beings should stop using plastic. I came for snorkeling, but i refuse to swim in this garbage. Ridiculous
