Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Early in the morning you can see how many different fish were catched, but it stinks very much if you don't like the smell of dead fish...

nice and calm beach but no shade. It's nice the early morning to walk on the beach and the area. Not wavy at the moment we went there

The fisherman from around these waters are bringing in hundreds of manta rays every year, slaughtered and sold to foreigners throughout Asia, especially China. Manta rays along with sharks and other types types of rays are killed in staggering numbers for a single profit. The best thing to do is make a point of visiting this place and make your voice heard that this is unacceptable. Do not boycott the area as it will only lead to more fishermen needing to make money somehow and therefore more mantas will be slaughtered. Find the tourism office in the area and complain sternly about this practice. Hire the fisherman to go and see manta rays and sharks and pay them well and go out the next day too. Let them understand that if they take tourists to visit these creatures they will be paid for the same one daily. The numbers are shocking about how many of these beautiful and majestic rays and sharks are caught each day. If we do not do anything eventually it will all come back to each and every one of us as the natural balance in our (every animal on the planet) seas finds itself unbalanced and needs to make drastic shifts to again find a balance. Do nothing and you will be the victim soon. Use your voice in any positive and loving way you can and you will make a difference.

The longline fleet is overfishing sharks in Indonesia and this is one of the hubs. Shark Stewards is working with SORCE and the Indonesian government to help phase tis harmful fishery- and shark fin trade out.

Do not visit this market. Demand that the Indonesian government take action! Thousands of endangered sharks, dolphins and whales are slaughtered and sold here.
For people who derive a living from the sea, its disgusting to see the utter disrespect they hold for it. This isn't "local way of life" or "ignorance". It's purposeful destruction of our oceans for profit.

Loved looking at dead sharks great catch, the fisherman clearly are only taking what they need and are leaving big ones to breed.

"Of all the things to eat in this world, why purposefully choose to eat an #EndangeredAnimal? Demand that the Indonesian government protect these precious endangered species now and shut down the #TanjungLuarFishMarket, before even more dolphins and whales are senselessly slaughtered!"

From praya to tanjung luar took us 38 minutes by motorbike. Right in front of the market you can park your motorbike for 5000 Rp. The guys look after it and you can leave your helmet.
The market isn't that big but they sell all kinds of fish.
We arrived at 9 am and the big fish (sharks,...) were already cut to be sold.
This time a year it's hot so if you don't like fish smell, make sure you bring something to cover your nose. All in all I found it not to overwhelming.
The boats are colourful, just as the stilthouses and the people are very friendly.
You should see this while on Lombok. The daily live and trade are going on everywhere you look.
If you want to eat baked fish you should go in the afternoon. The morning market is just for buying fresh fish.
