As a big city with all of its heroic history, it is good for Surabaya to have such a great monument. It used to be only upside down nail-like monument. Later on they built a museum around.

No doubt it is historical but people need more than history to come. It needs to give more reason such as museum and shops selling memorabilias. At the most people come here just to take pictures.

The obelisk reminded me of the one we have in Washington, DC. The statue of Soekarno and the other man greeted me as I entered this attraction. Took a lot of pictures to commemorate my visit. Having read what happened at this place kept me interested and wanting to visit this attraction. The lives of those who fought the Dutch... More

Then enter the square, the fountain then reached the Tugu Pahlawan, a bronze sculpture of soldiers who... More

A great place to visit to get a snapshot of the Indonesian revolution after World War 2 and a history of their heroes. The staff, who speak English, were excellent and were able to give a detailed account of each exhibit in the Museum.
