Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

To get to this place from Jogjakarta is about 45 minute riding. It’s pretty nice area with hilly road and fast view to Manoreh hills. The area is known for robusta but their Arabica coffee is surprisingly amazing with very juicy body and pleasant acidity. Some people came for its view on Suroloyo hills which clear view to Borobudur but some are coming for coffee. This area is close to tea plantation and vanilla plantation aa well.

The view of the peak from the Corogatto Watch-Tower was amazing. I watched the sunrise from behind the Suroloyo Peak. It was a wonderful sight.

Puncak Suroloyo is the highest point on the Menoreh Hill Ranges and famous for sunrise but so useless of you bring smartphone because mostly foggy and misty here on February.

But the view to the location was pretty and the coffee was so special. Kopi Suroloyo was so delicious!

we climbed up to the peak of the Suroloyo and enjoyed a clear view of the surrounding landscapes - there is a coffee shop with locally produced coffee or tea, and enjoy it after climbing with a snack - worthwhile going

Feels truly magical in the pavillion on the peak
overlooking the surounding mountains.
Could be the sacred energy that makes it a pilgrimage site.
Could be the giddiness after climbing the 290 steps.
Or could simply be the crisp clean air.

Go weekday early in the morning and
have the whole peak to yourself!
View depends on weather, can be clear or foggy.

Beautiful kampung scenery along the way.
On your way back make a stop at Bu Marwiyah's Menoreh Coffee stall
at Madigondo, Sidoharjo, about 6km/20minutes away.
You'd love your cup of very fresh java, locally grown & roasted!

It took an hour plus to reach the place from Yogyakarta. It is high above, so the air is nice and fresh. Not many activities in the morning (I was there 5-7am to photo sunrise) nor food/drink to sell. The stairway to the top is quite steep not but not too long.

The sunset view is better. From the peak you could see many mountains and some said in the clear day you could see Borobodur as well.

A month ago, I visited this place. you have to take about 3 hour to reach that place with car or motorcycle, or elf. because you can't use big bus to trough the road. (don't forget to bring your puke bag :D)

for your info, you can't find any resort or hotel up there, only homestay. The one and only who offer the homestay is Mr. Windardi. you can find him in his little coffee shop near by semar statue. It's a nice traditional house type and his Mom usually offered to make the breakfast and dinner for us. Also the most interesting is you can see the coffee maker right behind that house.

At the traditional coffee shop's Mr. Win, you can taste arabica and robusta suroloyo coffee. Also, you can taste poci tea from suroloyo and other snacks.

In early morning, you can go up to the top suroloyo through a lot stairs and see the beautiful sunrise behind the mountains. and you can see clearly 4 mountains and borobudur temple. (really good for photograph)

If you wanna some adventure, Mr. Win can take us down to the borobudur temple by foot through hills and it's only takes about 4 hours.

I wish in my retirement age, I can live at beautiful place such suroloyo

Suroloyo is a place where you could see basically everything from above, such as mountains, magelang city, rice terraces, etc. The road to suroloyo isn't very steep but you must still be cautious. Anyway this attraction site has an entrance fee, but because i go there early in the morning, so the guard on the entrance hasn't come yet, so we enter this attraction for free. but to park car/motorcycle there, you must pay at some local citizen who provide parking spot. and after that you must to climb about 300 stairs to reach the top. Suroloyo has several viewing spot, so make sure you visit all of them

Suroloyo is not that famous but definitely a highlight in the Borobudur area. Already the drive to Suroloyo is a dive into the local scenery: we saw pigeon racing, local fishermen competitions with an incredible number of participants. The highlights, of course, are the breathtaking rice terraces at and around Suroloyo Peak..... just have a look, breath and enjoy!
