Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After visiting the temple of Borobudur, the largest Buddhist temple in the world, it is most interesting to discover the amazing craftsmanship of local silversmiths. My only hope is that they keep creating artefacts that are not too commercial and that they remain true to the old tradition where filigree and delicate openwork on metal are at their best.

Even though we usually are completely uninterested in the shopping stops that tours visit, we found this establishment great. They have a demonstration area as well as an incredible amount of silver creations for sale at reasonable prices with non pushy sales people. Contrary to our usual practice, we bought several items. Furthermore, the establishment also sold batik and many other items that are typical of the region. Had more time been allotted for the stop, we might have shopped even more. The only challenge was running the gauntlet of street sellers as we boarded the bus. Some were yelling out dramatically reduced prices as the buses pulled away. We saw their goods at every stop, much unlike the items offered for sale inside Borobudur Silver Mungkid.

When we pass the main road on the way to Borobudur Temple from Yogyakarta, we saw the big giant signage of Borobudur Silver & Craft on the right side.
I wonder....hm...if later we have time, we could make a stop there.
And we did!!
At the entrance, we were surprised by the workshop of silver filigree jewellery making full handmade.
I have never seen this before.
In the showroom, we can choose many items to buy. Silver jewellery, miniature, wooden puppets, Batik, magnetic, key holder, scarf, wooden deco...etc
The comfortable feeling was...it's a hussle free shopping with the fixed fair prices. No headache.
I would recommend Borobudur Silver and Craft to my friends who travel there.

We actually discover this place un purposely. We ate at the neighbouring restaurant ( which is also amazing called BS resto btw) were so full and we just take a casual stroll and pleasantly surprise that they have a silver workshop just next door.
We saw all the fine silversmith making all those precious jewellery pieces 😍 prices are fixed, but I think it is very reasonable and such a relief that i dont always have to haggle for a deal for once during my trip here. All the sales people are also so friendly.
Definitely worth a visit !!

Lovely to see the fine silver work by the skilled artisans. All is handcrafted from scratch. Interesting to see how the material is treated with limestone to create a very special (white) finish Oxydation.
Prices are fixed but fair (as they also claim) worth the money
