Hired a driver and went to this magical garden a little over an hour away from Jakarta. This is a wonderful garden, it’s beautiful, well maintained, has great plant collections , and is perfect for picnics. I am a plant person and some of the best collections of plants are here, especially nepenthes, or pitcher plants. The orchid house is very impressive too, although depending on the time of year the orchids may not be in peak bloom. They do research here and they have two Raffelesia plants, but it has been years since they bloomed. I was not expecting such a beautiful place. They have a nice restaurant but I didn’t eat there. Also the olive gift shop is worth a visit if just to see all their gorgeous terrariums.

This huge garden in the heart of the city of Bogor is mature, with many fine old specimen trees. Do try to visit midweek; at weekends and public holidays the most popular areas are packed, even for such a large garden. You will also be dodging golf carts, motorcycles and other vehicles. It is an easy day trip from Jakarta - Bogor is at the end of the suburban rail line (Rp 6k each way). Admission is also cheaper during the week: Rp 15.5k vs Rp 25.5k. Only two entrance gates are in use, on the south and east sides. There are refreshment stands scattered about the garden. Even on a weekend it is possible to find quiet spaces away from the crowds.

At first this garden would only be used as an experimental garden for plantation crops to be introduced to the Dutch East Indies.

However, in its development, the establishment of the Bogor Botanical Gardens can be said to have started the development of science in Indonesia and as a forum for scientists, especially in the field of botany in Indonesia, in an organized manner at that time (1880 - 1905).

This is my first experience visiting the island of Java, Indonesia, and the tour I did could not be separated from the intervention of the Java Private Tour which provides unique and unforgettable experiences in Bogor, one of which is exploring the Bogor Botanical Garden which is a Classical British Stylish Botanical Garden which is a legacy from the era of Javanese Social Reform during the time of Thomas Stamford Raffles. And another thing that was quite memorable for me and my family while on tour in the city of Bogor was in terms of culinary, exploring Chinatown and trying various culinary mixes of Javanese and Chinese is the most unique thing beyond my expectations, it seems I'm getting more and more comfortable in Java, I had the thought planning to stay in Java for a long time.

Nice park, the views are great the restaurant clean and very good food. Even when its really hot out side the woodlands are cool. There is a lot of history in the park. The presidential residence is photogenic and can be seen from the scissor pond.

An old botanical garden in town, built in Indonesia's colonial era by The English or Dutch men. Great place for picnic and jogging.
