I found the massage too strong for me. Despite asking for the pressure to be reduced there never seemed to be any significant difference and the next day I awoke with bruises all over my hips. I know Asian massages do tend to be stronger but I'd had a number of massages by this point in my trip which I found much nicer.

This is a small place with incredibly gifted therapists. I initially got a 90 min foot/neck massage ($11!) and then went back the next day for a full body scrub/massage. My therapist was so mindful and it was very therapeutic. One of the best in Ubud

I thought it would have been better than it was, based on the reviews. Everyone was very nice, but the massage therapist lacked the skill and experience I was hoping for and used waaaaaay too much oil. Acceptable, but definitely not the best in Ubud, as some reviews claim. I think Ketut at Bali Santi is much better.

Beautiful store with sacred geometry everywhere. Kind massage therapists. Cozy, clean rooms. Great prices ($USD 6 per person for an hour). Great massage!

Startled offers a great massage at a great value. It is not the swanky upscale spa experience but the massage is wonderful and the price is amazing. Be sure to schedule time to peruse their collection of sacred geometry jewelry as well.

We tried more massages in Ubud and this was the best comparing price / performance. Had 90min Warm stone massage for 200k and that was excellent.

I liked this spa because it combines the quality of massages in fancier spas with a good degree of cleanliness and reasonable prices. Experience was so enjoyable that I went back to the same masseuse (Bait) every day for over a week. They don’t speak much English but they try to be very helpful nonetheless. You get the chance to shower after your massage and a ginger tea as well - after 1.5 hrs you will feel a new person!

I have been to Ubud 8 times in the past 4 years, and, I've tried a few other well-rated places, but I honestly believe this place is the greatest of them all. Ketut, the owner, is a self-made business owner who connects genuinely with customers, and takes good care of her happy staff. She has trained all of the staff to an amazingly high standard, and all of their services are incredibly affordable.
The twin massage is to die for, and the 1.5 hour balinese massage and salt scrub (my favourite) is only 200K and leaves you feeling soft, relaxed and brand new. The music is super high quality and all of their products are natural, and many are hand-made from local plants and spices.
They do full spa packages for around 300-400K - half the price you'd pay in other places. I can't rate them highly enough, and will be back again and again. Everyone that I've recommended to go there ends up hooked on the place, too. Thank you so much, ladies, for your skilful, loving touch, beautiful smiles, and your warm hearts! :) xx

Please do not visit Ubud without trying a massage at Starchild Bali. Having said that, if you are looking for a luxury spa that can make you feel spoilt and pampered, look another way. Starchild Bali is a no frills spa but they make up for it with great skilled therapists trained under the magic hands of owner, Ketut. Once you hit the massage bed, your body will undergo an hour of pampering no matter whether you prefer your massages light or hard. Another thing to put a smile on your face is the reasonable rates. We practically spoil our bodies rotten with daily massage sessions during our trips to Ubud. Warning : if you don't like disappointments, call to book in advance.
