Great morning rafting. Andrew was our skipper - he really put effort into making it fun, getting us to stand, splash and scream. Very good value return taxi from Ubud, rafting and then lunch.
You walk down about 400 steps to the river raft for two hours and then back up 250. We went in August and river was pretty safe, nothing that centre parcs wouldn’t put you through.

It was epic.
Maybe not the most adrenaline rush activity,
But it was super adventurous, exciting and fun.
The trip down to the river itself was a journey in downpouring rain.
Made us feel like Indiana Jones on adventure in the jungle.
Beautiful river, scenery, waterfalls and serene jungle.
Was surprised to stop by some small ”bars” for a cold bintang with music and speakers.
Even though this activity is not extreme by any means,
I personally would not recommend this for any old pensionists with physical problems or very small children.
It is a straining physical activity over a period of 2-3 hours. Walking very steeply downhill for 15-20 minutes + walking 15-20 minutes uphill after the rafting.

After a fantastic morning quad biking, my husband and I were transferred to the rafting centre. I must say….this was something my husband wanted to do, I was a little nervous.
There was nothing to be nervous about, it was absolutely brilliant, our guide was SO funny, he and his colleague in the raft behind us made the experience so much fun with non stop laughter. The river was great, not super rough and with huge drops like I was imagining 😂 just perfect.
But the views through the jungle and the sights of the waterfalls were breathtaking. A true pinch me moment ♥️ great work guys 👌
Negative is ( although we loved it) there is about 250 steps down to the water through the jungle. So might not be great if steps are difficult .
Also the shower rooms are in a bad state but didn’t worry us too much.

The STAIRS!!!! OMG! By the time I got to the water’s edge my legs were literally jelly and I could barely stand. The stairs on the way down are different heights, some very steep, some very slippery and long drops beside them. If someone fell and broke their leg there, they would never get them out of there, that’s all I could think of the whole way down, I considered turning back about half way down. The rapids weren’t very strong, it was a fairly safe and enjoyable ride along the river with beautiful carvings on the rocks along the way. I wish I had taken a camera. There are stops along the way where you are pressured to buy overpriced drinks and snacks. Then the guide says that there’s 400 stairs back to the top. I had to stop 3 times for a break. If you’re an asthmatic like me, take your inhalers with you. My legs were sore for 4 days afterwards. I’m only 43 and reasonably fit. Wouldn’t recommend for older people with lower fitness levels.

The rafting in Bali is pretty unsafe with guides not good ones as per our experience . We went for rafting with our parents 69 yrs and kids 11 yrs and they didn’t stop both senior citizens and kids for the activity .
Our raft went upside down and all of us fell and flowing with the current , hitting rocks and getting hurt . The guide did nothing to help us and neither they warned or guided in case of such raft getting upside down . I strongly recommend not to take senior citizens and kids for the rafting .

We did this activity the first time we came to Bali 15 years ago. I was afraid of being disappointed. No way . It's still good. They pick you up from the hotel. It's very well organized. Departure from the hotel at 9 a.m. Once at their place we pay, collect the equipment and off we go for 2 hours of descent in the countryside. It's wonderfull.
The climb back up the stairs is a bit tough but it's worth it. Very friendly team. Very reasonable price with lunch included and transfer to the hotel. I recommend 100%. (Video and photo extra)

Great river to raft with young teens. Not too difficult (level 1, level 2). The river is in a rather deep canyon with jungle on both sides. This makes it a breathtaking view with nice rapids and waterfalls.
We did the trip with Green Bali Rafting with a great guide (“Marco”) and ended with a good lunch.
We needed to descent to the river with approx 250 steps through the jungle where the rafts were lowered by cables. In the end also needed to climb 150 steps up which ended a 50 meters from Green Bali Rafting.

Just booked through watsapp and payment via online. Simple and convenient. Great fun and completely safe. Quite a bit of steps to negotiate, both to and fro the river. Showering facilities basic - cold water, warm towels & plastic bags provided, no shampoo and soap though. Food - white rice, nasi goreng, stirfried noodles, fried veg fritters, stir fry veg, crackers(a bit soft) and oranges. There’s lockers to use for a deposit of 50k.

It started well enough, our driver was on time. Unfortunately he was a smoker and quite angry, speeding, beeping at traffic, overtaking dangerously and swearing under his breath. His van stank of smoke. We arrived nearly 45 minutes early. We waiting for the others in our crew to show up, walked down 600 concrete steps, had our safety brief and were off. Within the first two kilometres due to bad advice from our guide we capsized. He said go right, which should have been left and flipped the boat. My daughter myself and another teenage girl were trapped under the raft taking water into our lungs. At that stage, I could not find my daughter and was terrified. Luckily we got ourselves out and after being swept down stream a bit, dragged ourselves a shore. After a few minutes and a lot of coughing, we were back in the boat. Although the ride after that was ok, we were all pretty frightened. Then in the last leg of the trip is a fast ride under a bridge with stone/concrete walls. It had rebar sticking out! If the boat had of been pushed against it, someone could have been torn to pieces. On the other side of the wall was huge metal bars sticking out of the wall. I was so shocked that they would raft in the river with such danger. If I had of known, I NEVER would have gone. At least the change room and showers were clean, with good hot water. Lunch was super average, lukewarm food in pans open to the insects. At least it was included. Then our angry driver drove us home. Three hours later we are still shaken.

I went today with BMW water rafting. A waste of time. 3 hrs each way in the car. Less than 30 mins of the smallest waves/rapids. Since the volcano the river is half of long and now it is crap. Also got Bali belly from the food that had been sitting out all day. I think the company is hanging on to a past reputation. $90 bargained down to $40 AUD was only actually worth about $15. Give it a miss.

We didn’t bring suitable shoes with us to do rafting and we really want to do it. We’ve looked but can’t find any in Bali. Do they sell shoes there that we can go rafting in? Thanks
Written 4 August 2018
Hi Tara,
You can de the rafting bare food.
Only the walk needs to be done with shoes. But many people just wear havaiana’s........
No need to buy special shoes ;-)
Have fun with rafting!

How far is the nearest food and drink joint from rafting place?
Written 18 January 2018
it takes a 5-7min drive to the food joint... you have an option to have some munchies during the rafting. usually your captain stops at one of the 'uncle's' shops on the mountain during the rafting..
enjoy rafting !!

Hi! me and my husband are thinking to take 2boys age4 and age6 for rafting.
Is it ok their age for your tour?
Written 6 October 2016
That's a little young for this tour. The rapids are not for small kids and the safety aspects are a little light on. So maybe 12yrs +

We are planning to do water rafting at Bali, this month end. Does it require good amount of stamina for paddling or easygoing and comfortable? Is it necessary for all in raft to paddle?
Written 11 December 2015
Thanks Mick.
We did go for rafting last December '15. Paddling/ Rafting is cool.
BUT CLIMBING DOWN more than 400 steep Steps and after rafting CLIMBING UP around 250 steps is REALLY TEDIOUS AND TIRESOME.
Please note and take care.

what is the total packege duration of this white river rafting
Written 4 December 2015
The time on the water is approx 3hrs. It takes approx 45mins to get all people into life jackets, helmets and then a walk down to the river. Lunch at the end of the rafting is also approx 45mins. Not considering time taken to travel to the initial rafting office (Ubud) I would set aside 6hrs in total.
