First and Last Time. Once is Enough. :)
Arrived via GoBike and immediately people were trying to sell me sarongs (even though the ticket price already included a sarong). The price for the ticket is 50k - way too much, in my opinion for some quick sightseeing of the Hindu (Elephant Cave) and Buddhist temples. Immediately upon entering, I was approached by a local guide whom I offered 50k at the end of the trip (but then he asked for 100k, but I didn’t have the money on hand). He helped me take some photos, but he didn’t share very much about the history because he wasn’t good in English and also because there wasn’t much to share. Much of the temple grounds were destroyed by a landslide/earthquake in 1917 (according to the guide there) so it’s mostly been rebuilt. Once is enough. :)

    History packed in a cave
There is a lot of history in this place . It is an old cave which has engraved head of an elephant carved. To reach the entrance one has to climb down a flight of stairs after purchasing the ticket which cost 50K IDR. this includes the sarong for men and women. Inside this cave are the shrines of Hindu Gods-Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma.

    Breath in the Serenity
You have to admire the history in this place . It is one of the oldest temples in Ubud and has engraved head of an elephant carved into the mountain. To reach the entrance there are a few stairs with low rails. The tickets cost 50K IDR. this includes the sarong for men and women, but most people have usually purchased from the Serong shops in the car parks. Inside this cave are the shrines of Hindu Gods-Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma. We were blessed to be there when it was not crowded so had the time to allow the serenity to sink in. As you walk thru the rainforest footpaths you can’t help yourself to snap some shots of the landscapes. Just be mindful that this a functional temple and respect it and the people.

A Definite Skip, don’t waste your time!
Not much to see except on Cave where you can go inside. Lots of vendors and people selling random stuff, including when you go inside the Tour guides hound you. The Buddha Temple you are not allowed to go inside, so only visible from outside gate. Overall one of worst places visited in Bali, as there are many other exceptional ones.

    Beware the “tour guides”
Family travelling with 3 and 6 year old: look would we come back - probably not. It was interesting. There are lots of steps, our girls were fine. BEWARE: there are people inside the temple who approach you to take you on a tour, these people will charge you for the tour. We paid to get inside the temple and therefore thought they worked there and were telling us about the history (which we thought was part of admission). We were not told up front about this would cost additional and only told at the end when the guy asked us for payment for the tour!

    Unique temple experience
The cave and surrounding temple is a must-see! It is very touristy, so note that there will be many vendors when you arrive and guides that will attempt to sell their services. There is also a restaurant nearby to the entrance that can be visited if you need a bite to eat!

    Unique temple worth seeing
This is very different to any of the other temples we have seen. There are a lot of steps, especially if you want to go down to the Buddhist area, which is well worth the walk - it is very beautiful. Sarongs are included with admission and are required for both men & women in shorts.

    Plenty History and beautiful place
There’s a lot of history here - make sure you take a guide or listen to someone else. There’s ruins near a Buddha temple as well as the elephant cave. The cave is small and hot, and the outside area is very hot - it traps the sun. You must wear a sarong to enter. Worth a visit but you can’t spend too long here.

We arrived there. I was with 2 friends, one British Chinese and one Indian American. We don't need a tour guide. BUT, one man keep approaching us and keep talking about the place. Then, he stop awhile then ask, if he can continue explain.. HE DIDN'T SAY anything about PAYMENT, RATE, FEE... Then, when we wanted to leave the place, because it is too long to listen to him, just for a small place. Then, HE DECLARED, WE NEED TO PAY for HIS TIPS, RP. 150.000 FOR JUST 30 MINUTES THERE.. HE ALSO TOLD LIes, that WE AGREED And AWARED for the price... Then, I warned him, that tips is up to US... Not HIM.. Be careful with the GUIDE THERE.

A place full with history and represents the balinese culture. However the place is pretty small and there is nothing you can do other than walking around and see the inside of the cave. The inside is pretty small.

When i reached the place it's mid day. It's so hot and humid. U have to go down to reach the place through steps. If u are in shorts u have to wear sarong which is available free. It's a cave temple.

The temple and the cave inside totally lived up to my expectations as it looks gorgeous. I was however not expecting there to be even a purification bath and a lovely waterfall in the back garden. It was very atmospheric and worth a visit, not a sight to miss!

This is my special place in Bali and for me, I am at peace. Do some research before you visit and you will be amazed at how old this temple really is. I love the area and hope you also take the time to enjoy the ambiance. Try to find an honest local guide and the experience will be fulfilling.

The Elephant temple with its impressive entrance, ancient statue inside and nice fountains and grounds is a cool place to visit and take some photos. However, we experienced it alongside a guide who explained the history and culture of the site, without which you might find this place a little underwhelming.
