Fantastic time at Widya's - such a great experience while you are in Bali. Really makes you have a whole new appreciation for the workmanship that goes into Batik and makes for a wonderful souvenir to bring home.

We did the shorter class and had a great time. Also we had to leave before our pieces could dry and the wonderful staff made it so that we could pick up our pieces after they had closed which was so nice and accommodating. For those creatively inclined, this is a must do experience in Bali.

We loved every minute of our hand-drawn batik-making experience! All of the artisans were so helpful in explaining the process and supporting our creative processes so we could make our own beautiful batik art. From drawing the designs, transferring them onto cloth, pouring the wax, and painting the cloth, we were thoroughly immersed in our art. I loved learning from the artisans and can’t wait to take another class. The experience was a big hit with my 7-year-olds as well! Thank you.

We booked a group of 9 to participate in and learn about batik. Widya and his family members conduct the classes from their family home. They were patient, kind and very professional. There were plenty of designs to use as inspiration or we could design our own. My group and I were thrilled with our designs and the outcome! Thoroughly recommend this activity to learn about the wax resist process of design. We felt that our fabric looked so professional thanks to the expert assistance and guidance in the process.

This is an excellent experience! If you have any interest in textiles or art, I highly recommend this class. You get an individual tutorial on how to make your own batik. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and talented. They are patient and kind, and will help you as much as you want. There is a wide array of stencils to choose from, or you can make your own design. Have fun!

I have wanted to do this many times when I’ve been in Bali and finally booked it months ago. My husband ended up joining me for the day and we just loved it! The staff were so attentive and supportive and organised and we are so happy with the end result. This is a brilliant class and highly recommended to anyone looking for something traditional and different, it’s also very educational.

What a great morning learning the craft of Batik. We were very welcomed and taught the steps of Batiking, patiently and at our pace. They helped when needed and had a great way of teaching through a practice piece! A must do in Ubud !

Great experience. It is a little difficult to find as off the street, but just head in from the sign and keep walking. Family members are happy to direct you. Good instruction, explaining the whole process at each step and communication with good dining options around for after. 3 hr class was just the right amount of time

I didn't think this was as good as some of the reviews suggest. I have done a range of classes in Ubud and this was the worse. The others were very good. I just felt the teaching wasn't great. The other classes I did were more attentive, you were guided and taught a lot. This was more just showing and then leaving you mainly to your own devices! I wanted to learn more about processes and understanding the technique. The teacher I had did not have very good English and I struggled to understand what he was saying. When I asked any questions, answers were limited. It was relaxing and the family and setting are nice. I did also think that it was a bit unfair when I needed to be dropped very close by that they charged me! I would have walked had it not been raining. The location is advertised as five minutes from Ubud Palace but it is nearly a thirty minute walk in the heat and maybe five to ten minutes with a car. There are many batik classes in Ubud so I suggest shopping around for a better option. There are different classes that the family run. I did the Learn and Enjoy the Art of Batik in Ubud which is advertised as three hours but it can take longer depending on design. What annoyed me is that as soon as it hit noon, we were offered a menu to buy lunch. When I politely declined, the woman appeared annoyed. Whilst I know a lot of people appreciated it, I just felt that the whole experience was about making money rather than learning and teaching like the other experiences I did. I didn't think this was a cultural experience like the art of batik should be. They provided complimentary water. Any additional drinks then you need to pay. Toilet on the premises.

Widya Batik workshop in Ubud highly recommended, informative, creative and relaxed 5 hours class, and you finish with your original work of art! Helped by the master himself and his family with colour and style ideas. There were 4 of us (Aust, Japan, Italy & Croatia) and we each had individual assistance. Starts 10am till 3 pm & very reasonable price Aust $45. Beautiful lunch can be bought on site. Worth coming up from Nusa Dua, Kuta, Seminyak etc to do,then stay on and shop for crafts, have dinner in town and catch a 1 hour dance performance at one of the 3 venues at 7.30 pm.

I know this is belated review but better than nothing...!
My experience at Widya's Batik Class was amazing.

The booking process was very smooth done via WhatsApp and they are very quick to reply to coordinate the time & date.

The place is in residential area in Ubud. I was in rush to arrive their place because I was running late but I remember it was full of greens and beautiful. I thought it was also a great opportunity to see local area in Ubud where you normally won't come across as tourist / short time visiter.

Once you arrive, they explain how Batik is made with displays. You can see their works in the displays so even with 0 knowledge about this traditional craft (like me!), you can easily understand what it is.

The detailed patterns on Batik look intimidating to try at first but the process is well thought about for beginners to follow so it was smooth and you can actually enjoy doing it without stressing out.

If you need any help, they are always there for you to help.

Depending on the speed of your progress, it can be almost a half day activity but they can order you lunch with very reasonable price so there should be no problem. And it was delicious too!

They also kindly provided you with a bottle of water too.

It was eye opening for me to learn about this beautiful local craft and was memorable in that heart warming environment with great people.

Thank you so much alll at Widya's Batik Class!
