Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This market is mostly visited by locals. You can get food at decent prices and really good ice desserts (es teler, es campur) from Raco. Worth a visit.

Quite disappointed to be honest. It was smaller than expected and nothing much to see. Clothing and food stalls selling pretty much the same thing. Wasn’t lively at all when we visited at around 5pm.

Be careful . Whilst this style of shopping can be fun , it is also a bit of a scam. Even after bargaining you can often find the same price to purchase online. The sellers will tell you anything & no after sale service. I purchased 2 items identical in different colours . Told all same size so I tried only 1 on. Got back to unit , other one didn’t fit. There is no exchange so money wasted . The vendors can be outright rude . The stalls are all linked. If you walk away they are all yelling to each other.
Quite funny really.
Do t get me wrong , it is good to experience & if you like a challenge, being hassled then enjoy the experience. Just don’t expect to get a bargain.

We visited this market alone, opting to go without a guide. I’d say we made the right choice because we had a huge amount of fun engaging with the locals and trying the foods on offer.

The market has plenty to choose from. Clothing, cheap electronics, whatjamacallits and food. The latter was all we were interested in and it did not disappoint.

We threw ourselves in trying to appear as local as possible but asking questions of the friendly sellers who were more than happy to help.

With few tourists here you may feel a little overwhelmed but don’t let that deter you. It was perfectly safe and a great way to take in part of the culture.

Top tip - Take smaller bills. 10k, 5k, 2k etc. they dislike 100s and 50s for simple small orders. A meal costs 12-15k on average.

If you want to experience the real Bali, you have to visit this street market. There were only a few tourists which made the experience really authentic. We had a fantastic time getting to speak to locals and they recommended different things to try. We loved the chicken satay sticks that were cooked on a BBQ and the Bakso soup (Indonesian meatball soup).

I've seen way better night markets than this. It's clearly where the locals buy their clothing and toys for kids. The food here is not good at all. Maybe I think the local fare isn't very good, underseasoned, and overcooked- but honestly this is worth skipping if you have a limited time in Ubud.

Our local friend took us here to get dinner. We had whole chicken, feet, gibblets and all! So cheap, and good!

For a great Bali experiance try the night market. This way of life will probably not be viable in the years to come as supermarkets take over.
