Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Mertasari is located at the very end of the near 5 km stretch of Sanur Beaches. The promenade continues until the end of Mertasari Beach. You will find a few eateries, temple and people enjoying nice beachfront and what seemed like good swimming conditions. Quite a few people dipping in the waters when we passed by a couple times during our recent visit. Another point of interest, we found some locals flying massive kites around the pier and open parking space at the end of Mertasari Beach.

Staying at the Mercure and a short stroll to this beach. The white sands appeal: looks great when the tide is in and seemed a popular area for families with young children. Restaurants, cafes and bars abound and, if interested, the Sindhu Market is within walking distance. The area is popular for watersport activities, participants just need to be aware of their surroundings and stay safe.

Mertasari Beach I would define as the "locals" beach, its location is at the Southern end of Sanur beach. The last big hotel on Sanur Beach is the Mercure so walking further to the South for 6 minutes or so will bring you to Mertasari beach. You can get all sorts of water sports activities here, plus there is a large jetty known as Mertasari Harbour. standing at the start of the pier you can see a large variety of boats and sailing ships, nothing really large. Looking across the water is the Telaga Waja River although not in view just down that river passage is Benoa harbour from which many types of cruises are available. So Mertasari is good for an untouristy spot, many locals, You should note that in August the Sanur Beach Festival is held on a large expanse of land just behind the beach, a fantastic event. All any large local festival type events that are on, will be at this location, as its the only large public space in the Sanur area. I recently went to a large food event there it was a good chance to mix with the Balinese people.

More local side of Sanur beach
More locals here. Flying kites, selling snacks.
Particularly on weekends.
A change from the usual touristy side of Bali beaches

I went on a Sunday and the beach was very popular with local people enjoying their weekend. Overall a good sandy beach that looked fairly clean and inviting. I didn’t see a great deal of rubbish the day I went so maybe the tides were kind today ! There is a massive parking area that wasn’t even a fraction full. Lots of Warung to get snacks and drinks. Usual 2k IDR for scooter 5k fir car parking. It may be quieter during the week but a nice light brown sandy beach if you’re in Sanur. It’s beach front also for the Mercury Hotel.

I found this beach by mistake when taking bicycle ride along Sanur beach. It's just south of Mecure Hotel and has some great beach front bars and restaurants. Flat beach which is great for kids and prices are cheaper here too. We came down most nights for a quite drink and watch sunset.

Mertasari beach is easily accessible by car from Denpasar along the highway Jalan By Pass Ngurah Rai. There is a big parking lot and a stage area for concerts. Surrounding the parking are local warungs. Visitors to taman inspirasi also park their cars or motorbikes here. Ideal for local Indonesians who are used to their private transport.
Most foreigners reach this beach on foot or by bicycle as it is at the most southern tip of the 6 km foot / bicycle path along the Sanur coast. You notice immediately you reach a public area after leaving the Mercure hotel part of the well maintained path. More garbage, more exposure to the sun, fewer facilities if any at all. The beach however, is clean as is the water.

This beach is very close to Sanur & south east Denpasar. The coast is very sloppy, good and safe for family water recreation, great for jogging! It has vast parking area, regularly used for automobile driving lessons, and also surrounded by many 'warung'.
If we go to the south entrance, we can find mangroves river side park, with nice jogging tracks and little 'bale bengong' for fishing.
There are several public toilet, but unfortunately not to clean.
This beach has been used for many big music shows, usually in Saturday night.
To enter the beach, you have to pay the entrance fee, running by the local village association. You can access this beach from the Ngurah Rai bypass road (through south entrance).
Not far from the south entrance, there is a small harbor for fast boat to Nusa Ceningan & Nusa Penida, run by the local operator.
This beach is definitely very recommended for family recreation!

So many kite teams! it was wonderful to watch a sky full of kite tails blowing in the wind. If you go at low tide, you can see all sorts of crabs, shells, starfish etc, and enjoy the view of the nearby marina.
