Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Collections and exposition is good despite more detailed and systematic information would be appreciated. Building is nice, walking around was a pleasure. So for collection and building I would give 5 stars.
Very disappointing and annoying was the guide. This fact is mentioned in almost all reviews. I would love to pay extra for audio guide or for the proper guided tour. Perhaps, such kind of "guided tour" is a sort of local charity, but I don't like it.
Entrance tickets are not expensive, couple of pounds per person, but we were pushed to buy pretty, but overpriced drawing (£20), and that was not all. After that we were pushed to pay 10 USD more for "guided tour" (that was all cash we had, because all local currencies we alreadyspend on tickets) .Only after that the "guide" let as go and we had a chance to enjoy the museum.
Hard to give an advice, but, perhaps, it would be better to pay some £5 equivalent for "guide" in the beginning as a pay-off fee and rid him off immediately.
QR codes for exponat description didn't work, disappointing too.
So, overall museum quality is 4 stars, service and convenience 1 star,

If you've been in Bali more than a few days, you've probably seen more diverse art and culture in the local boutiques and galleries, so Bali Museum will present you with little that's new. Stones, Barongs, Hindu figurines, etc. 50,000 rupiah to go in and you will immediately be accosted by a guide asking for a further 100,000 to give you a tour. Definitely not worth it. Just have a wander by yourselves. The best part is probably the museum buildings themselves which, I was told, were part of a former palace. All in all, just a time filler.

We went to this museum yesterday to try and learn more about Bali’s history and heritage. I wish I had read the trip advisor reviews in advance...
We arrived and were directed to the ticket desk where there were two men, one behind the desk and one next to desk who asked us where we were from. We paid 50k each which was fairly ok. The man next to the desk then ushered us away and started giving us a tour, which we (maybe naively) presumed was included in the price we had just paid. It all seemed fairly legitimate as he acted as if he was one of the museum staff.
He then proceeded to take us on a nearly 2 hour tour of what is, quite frankly, a very small museum. The details were interesting at first but he seemed to have a 5 minute story for every single artifact behind the glass and as time went on we were a bit fed up, hungry and sticky from the heat. We were also being constantly hounded by people trying to sell things, after saying no time and time again. It was beginning to seem to be a bit of a tourist trap.
That being said, our “tour guide” was kind enough and offered to take pictures and we were too polite to disrupt his stories, although now knowing what I know, I wonder how much of his information was genuine :(
At the end of the tour he took us to a tower with steep steps, one way in and out (which I have now read he’s done in other reviews here) and cornered us saying that tourism is bad at the moment and after us he probably won’t have a job for a few weeks. He then told us that a tour guide is 20 usd and that we had to pay him. When we expressed our shock at this and told him we had already paid for our tickets, he got aggressive! we didn’t have much cash left on us and told him that and he said he would walk us to an ATM which we refused.
He led us out of the museum grounds with irritation and aggression, and it left a bitter taste in our mouth that ruined the overall experience I’m afraid. If you go - ensure that you reject the offer of a guide and make your own way round the museum unless you are willing to pay the extra.

Very pushy "guide" who hurried us through and tried to make us buy several souvenirs for 50,000 indonesian rupiah each, and pay him 200,000 indonesian rupiah on top of the 100,000 indonesian rupiah entry fee per adult.
We didn't ask for a guide and he wouldn't leave us alone. We gave him 50,000 indonesian rupiah tip at the end which we were advised is very fair and he was not happy with that.
Not much to look at and far as the museum collection, I thought there would be more. What we did see was intresting. Beautiful grounds. Would of preferred to be able to explore at our own pace.

Nice scenery.
I went there to have professional photos taken as part of my honeymoon and paid 1 MILLION IDR which is about £54 GBP for 5 ppl.. Cash only, Standard charge is IDR 50,000 per person which is about £2.70 GBP. If you plan on coming here for scenic pics it's nice but that's it.
Whilst I understand people have to make a living and fees change for photography, the charge is excessive.
Bottomline save your IDR 50k and get some food instead as its very underwhelming for a "museum" On a plus side the wife is happy with the pics so I'm good!! 😂

We had planned to visit the temple next door however it was closed due to renovations. We decided to tour the museum instead. Entry price was 50,000 IDR each, which is fine.
The grounds were beautiful but we were forced to have a ‘guide’ for our visit and despite paying the 50,000 IDR entry fee for each person, we were then pressured to pay more cash to each ‘guide’. We said no multiple times, but they continued to hound each of us until we handed over a small amount of money. This was uncomfortable for us as adults and overwhelming for our children. We left after only seeing two buildings because it was too much. I would avoid this place at all costs.

The entrance ticket is cheap (Rp 20k).
We were attended by a guide provided by the museum. At 1st, we were happy BUT at the end of visiting, the guide lead us to a dark corner and asked for Rp200k (20 dollars) each person. We feel cheated as they did not mention earlier. After the bargain, we only pay him Rp 100k for two person and ran off.
No air-cond. Very hot. Cheated on tourist.
Will never go back to such place again!

When my friend and I visited this place, we were welcomed by a very friendly guide. During the tour he would introduce to us the history of local drawings and woodcrafts then will suddenly change into a salesman asking us to purchase one. And when we said no, he would sit there silent and persistently haggle us what they're offering is a good deal. This happened consistently throughout the tour that it became uncomfortable. After the tour, the guide pleaded us for tips, we each gave him some but was later asked for more.
I find this very unprofessional, especially in a State museum.
However, do not let this moneygrabbing behaviour distract you from the artefacts and the temple that is there.
I recommend next time not to hire a 'guide' and ask to independently stroll around the area.

Overall: Things are old and not well-preserved. Only ~100 years things are already broken like >500 years. To be frank, going China and the museums do preserve a lot better.
Cheating tour guide: We go there and pay the entrance fee. Foreigners are already double the price of local, but it's still ok.
After we 2 girls paying the entrance fee, a 'tour-guide-like' man is following us and start the introduction inside the museum. We don't aware that he is a MONEY-GRABBER at first and let him follow us and introduce.
However, when he bring us to a tower, with only one steep stairs as entrance and exit, he tells us he is the 'tour-guide' and costs 100,000 Rp. We pay for it but he immediately says that 100,000 Rp/person. We are angry but we are only 2 girls high up in tower so we are forced to pay. After arguing, it reduces to 150,000/2 but it doesn't worth the price at all.
The English of 'tour-guide' is terrible, hardly listen to his words, and he has bad smell from mouth. We really don't wanna stay for 1 more minute.
Annoying selling inside: Some people are selling bamboo fan/ musical instruments. Even if you say NO and leave, they follow you for more than 50 meters. Annoying.
To conclude, it's ok to have a visit, for ~30mins. Never allow the 'tour-guide-like' person to follow you. It's a CHEAT!!!!

It's impossible to shake off a whole bunch of pestering would-be guides, drivers and paddlers of dreadful souvenirs. This was the only place we went to on Bali were they seemed to be obsessed about whether you have US dollars to give them, and they had highly unreasonable expectations about how much cash you should give them for very little in return. They, in particular, have a trick of stating prices to make you think they're talking about thousands of rupiah and then they switch and say they mean US dollars. So, the 30,000 rupiah turns into $30. Bali is a really lovely chilled-out place until you hit this sort of thing and then it just gets irritating.
The museum itself is poor, really. I'm sorry to have to say that. It could be so much better given the location.
Our tips: If you do go then straight after paying to go in at the official desk you'll get joined by a would-be guide who will speak very bad English. These guys are not properly trained or official guides and you should straight away tell them you do not need a guide. We didn't, and our visit was the worse for it. Also, if you don't have a car waiting for you outside then you should get away from the site on foot quickly afterwards and pick up a taxi on one of the nearby streets. If you're able to use the Uber app on your phone then get a car through that (Uber have arrived!).

Attention, dans mon guide (édition 2016) il était écrit 10 000 IDR, maintenant le tarif pour un adulte est de 50 000.. ce n'est tjrs pas énorme pour un musée mais une augmentation de 5fois le prix en si peu de temps..
